December 1st Frankenmuth Trip

December 8th Annual Meeting

COMMENTS FROM THE COMMODORE

By: John Armatis

The boating season for a change was excellent, we had very few rainy weekends. As in the past we closed the season out with the South Side Party. I was unable to attend due to the Jet Express Trip. The reviews I got from the members thought it was one of the best ever. I would like to thank Ralph and Chef Rick and their crew for a fine job.

The Ladies Night Out Party at our club was a huge success. I heard many compliments from our members and members of other boat clubs on what a great time they had.

Haul-outweekend was exceptionally hot but much work was accomplished. In all, 66 boats were lifted without incident. Again thanks to all crew leaders and members for a successful work weekend. We did have one accident due to the slipping of a ladder and we wish Ed Campau a speedy recovery.

Since the last newsletter Dwayne Montgomery and P/C Paul Michel have passed away. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Dwayne and also to Rose Michel, Paul Jr. and Valerie and their family. They will be sadly missed.

The Annual Meeting is coming up in December so please attend and bring up any issues you have.

Another year gone by. I hope everyone enjoyed the summer. Haul out seemed to go very well. Kind of strange pulling boats in 90 degree weather. We had 100 people signed in on Saturday, 79 on Sunday. Those #,s should be a lot higher. Some people do not realize they need to sign-in or just get sidetracked and forget. I need everyone to know that it is important for every individual to sign the sign-in sheets. You cannot plan for feeding and sitting a large amount of people if you do not have a head count. These sign in sheets reflect numbers for the next event.

I had some scheduling issues with work and was not able to be around both days for haulout. Things were kept pretty simple for lunch and seemed to go very well. I need to thank Shirley for the soup which she donated. It was fabulous. There were some fine sweets that were donated as well. Thank you to everyone that donated for haulout.

The ladies did a fine job with cleaning the kitchen and storeroom. I can always count on some ladies for help.

Next event will be the Annual meeting in December.

Fleet Captain Report

Wow the boats are out and we are swiftly moving towards the holiday season! This is one year that I can say has gone by quickly!!!

Just because the boats are out of the water doesn’t mean we can’t have some happy hour rendezvous down at the pilot house. Give me a call if you are interested in joining Patty and I for some winter cocktails sometime!

Don’t forget I have planned a “road trip” to Frankenmuth! We have a block of rooms reserved for Saturday night, December 1, 2007, under group reservation #10T3SA at the Bavarian Inn. The price is a discounted rate of $140.00. Call 1-888-775-6343 to reserve your room. Make sure you give them the above group reservation # to get the discounted rate! For more information check out the flyer at the club or feel free to give me a call! We will be having a small GLSBC hospitality room with drinks and munchies around the pool in the eveing so this promises to be a GREAT time and we have PLENTY of rooms left so call now for your reservation!

DEADLINE FOR RESERVATIONS IS NOVEMBER 1, 2007!

Again, I just want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone that lent a hand to myself and Patty during all of our planned events. It’s because of great members and friends like yourselves, that we were able to be as successful as we were this year! Thank you GLSBC!!!

If you have any questions or comments feel free to contact me on my cell # 313-670-1582.
