Make your own polymer slewing ring in the size of your choice
Slewing ring bearings in a diameter of one meter with igus®’ universal sliding elements, are loadable up to ten tons.
East Providence, RI –August 30, 2013 – With the help of the flexible iglide® J universal sliding element from the igus®, engineers can now tailor the desired size of their slewing ring bearing. Polymer slewing ring bearings (PRT) from the igus exist in seven sizes and three types. There is also an igus PRT with a quadratic flange for direct assembly on a flat surface.
iglide PRT is a slewing ring bearing with the proven advantages of igus polymer plain bearings. The sliding elements made of the tribo-optimized plastic iglide J run totally maintenance and lubrication-free. The counter-faces of the slewing ring bearing are mostly made of aluminum and are hard-anodized. As a result they also have very good tribological and sliding features.
Install and forget
Slewing ring bearings are often used for slow pivoting and rotating motions that are operated manually: The ready-to-install slewing ring bearings have a self-locking effect, for example in the case of pivoting control panels of machines. At clocked movements in assembly lines, they work perfectly for a long time, no matter how often the movement is performed.
iglide slewing ring bearings – large, larger, infinite…
The smallest iglide slewing ring bearings have an inside diameter of 20 mm and the largest is 300 mm. There are five other sizes in-between. igus engineers have now developed a flexible plastic universal sliding element with which slewing ring bearings in different sizes can be achieved. By putting iglide J sliding elements together, slewing ring bearings from with an inside diameter of 500 mm up to almost any measurement can be manufactured. A slewing ring bearing with a diameter of one meter can hold up to ten tons. Large slewing ring bearings are particularly in demand in solar technology, for assembly units or fixture construction. For these applications, igus not only delivers the sliding elements, but also supports the design engineering stages with information about precise dimensions and tolerances. With it the assembled bearing unit can be used immediately.
Slewing ring bearing with square flange
All igus slewing ring bearing systems are wear-resistant, corrosion-free and easy to install – especially the new polymer slewing ring bearing with the square flange. It can be mounted on the flat surface with four screws and without inlet holes. This avoids an additional distance ring. This slewing ring bearing has been designed for material handling systems, the furniture industry and for display and advertising technology.
Many variations and flexibility
Along with the seven current sizes, igus slewing ring bearings are available in three versions: a robust standard version also with a mounted gear wheel, a cost-effective variation made of one element as well as light-weight, low-cost-version with an inside diameter of 80 mm. For accessories igus offers a manual clamp and drive journal distance rings for other sizes – optionally made of aluminum or plastic.
