THE ENGAGEMENT AND INCOME GENERATION DIRECTORATE

The E & IG directorate was established in December 2012 following an organisational restructure which brought the Fundraising and Communications functions together to realise our ambitious plans for growth in income and engagement.

THE MAJOR PARTNERS TEAM

The team will be responsible for securing and developing high impact long term relationships with individual major supporters, companies & institutions (including statutory funding). They will have a strong focus on bringing in new relationships at scale across these areas and then supporting and stewarding the relationship to deliver the maximum, lifetime value from it. The team will continue to focus on delivering value and growth from exciting and new relationships that are philanthropic or commercial (or both) in nature. They will also be responsible for ensuring successful delivery of large scale “in aid of” activity including the relationship management of any committees, individual supporters and associations while also supporting cross-organisational cultivation and engagement events.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To effectively manage relationships with corporate partners and high value supporters maximising the potential of each partnership by planning, supporting and implementing innovative fundraising activity.

Support and deliver any campaign activitywhere the main income stream is through corporate or supporter Partnerships (e.g. FTBC, TMW etc).

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Provide excellent account management on a range of corporate and high level supporter partnerships to deliver financial and non-financial targets as agreed with the Partnerships Manager.
  • Steward and develop strong working relationships with partners to maximise the value and meet the objectives for both Breakthrough and the partner.
  • Working with the Special Events Executive Officer where required, ensurethe delivery of successful delivery of “in aid of” activity, committee and third party partnerships and campaigns (e.g. Big Bounce, TMW, Bobby’s Breakthrough Ball, FTBC etc).
  • Utilise our current assets and fundraising products to develop, manage and oversee all aspects of employee fundraising activity delivered with the support of the Supporter Services team.
  • Oversee the coordination of CRM activity with partners and act use experience and expertise to advise and guide partners in order to maximise the income and cost-benefit of product ranges.
  • Plan and monitor income and expenditure budgets, providing updates and actions in response to variances.Monitor and manage all costs associated with fundraising activity with a commitment to improve efficiency and reduce fundraising costs.
  • Champion innovation by identifying possible new income streams through commercially viable products and activity.
  • Use our partners to promote the work of Breakthrough and health messaging more widely through their networks and audiences.
  • Ensure contracts are drafted, agreed and in place for all partnerships and activities and advise partners about their legal and compliance obligations to ensure that any fundraising activities comply with the law and best practice to safeguard Breakthrough’s position.
  • Work with the communications team to ensure Breakthrough’s brand guidelines are followed for all fundraising material and activity and that the brand is not compromised.
  • Work with the PR team to deliver relevant and appropriate PR support to all activity and events.
  • Support the Partnerships Manager to deliver marketing and fundraising campaigns (which could include Fashion Targets Breast Cancer*) where required.
  • Be an ambassador for Breakthrough and associated campaigns both externally and internally to ensure staff engagement.
  • Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date and organised records for all partners and prospects using Breakthrough’s database. Ensure all partner information is managed and stored in-line with Data Protection regulations.
  • Support and deliver other projects and tasks, in line with your skills and experience that might occur within E&IG and contribute to our overall organisational objectives above and beyond your role.

Fashion Targets Breast Cancer is an international marketing campaign supporting breast cancer through fashion and is licensed in the UK exclusively to Breakthrough through the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

Essential

  • Experience of account management teams and relationship development
  • Experience of working in marketing or fundraising
  • Demonstrable experience of working on high profile fundraising and/or marketing campaigns and events
  • Excellent stewardship and relationship management skills with an ability to demonstrate high levels of diplomacy
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Good IT skills and experience of using creative, financial and database software
  • Good understanding of different corporate sectors including the retail sector
  • Adaptable and resourceful – able to prioritise the team’s workload and meet deadlines, whilst responding to multiple demands from a variety of sources
  • Ability to prepare, manage and monitor budgets
  • Understanding of the principles of marketing in all forms

  • Experience of working with trustees and of drafting reports

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary range:£26000 - £30000 per annum

Term of appointment:Permanent

Hours of work:35 hours per week. You may also be required to attend events during non-work hours and weekends. We also operate a TOIL scheme.

Pension:Contributory group personal pension scheme

Annual Leave:25 days per year plus 3.5 days over the Christmas period in addition to bank and public holidays
