POSITION:
The Benefits Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, and flexible spending plan). Provides excellent customer service and monitors benefit administration. Provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.
MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes monthly invoices for provider premiums and weekly wire requests from providers.
- Provides timely response to requests and questions regarding benefits, escalating complex issues to the Sr Benefits Analyst.
- Handles calls from retirees and troubleshoots issues.
- Processes and administers retiree and LTD billing.
- Provides data to vendor for COBRA administration.
- Maintains statistical data for premiums, claims, and costs.Assists in the monitoring, verifying and reconciling of costs to general ledger.
- Processes life insurance claims for employees, dependents, and retirees. (Determines benefits; creates communications for and provides claims form to beneficiary(ies); submits completed claim forms to provider)
- Oversees absence management program (STD, FML, and LTD); coordinates with third-party administrator and works with HR managers on issues.
- Coordinates application and data requests for Medicare Part D subsidy reimbursement.
- Works with payroll and health & welfare providers.
Provides demographic information, census requests, or ad-hoc requests for providers and/or consultants.
Reviews daily communications from providers to ensure proper maintenance of SAP in accordance with plan guidelines.
Resolves administrative problems with carrier representatives.
- Maintains eligibility files for all employees, including new hires and retirees.
Performs regular audits.
Reviews the error report.
Corrects eligibility on SAP or with administrators as needed.
Provides eligibility file to providers.
- Assists with annual benefits enrollment.
Tests various benefit changes and rate increases.
Creates benefit enrollment forms for retirees and LTD participants.
Provides updated billing information to the direct bill vendor.
Maintains and monitors timely receipt of dependent eligibility supporting documents.
- Assists in the administration of the company’s wellness program.
- Performs other related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma/GED
Additional Education Preferred:Associates Degree
Preferred field of study: Human Resources or related field preferred.
Work Experience: 3-5 yearsof experience in benefits administration preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- High level of proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point; experience working with Microsoft Access is a plus.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must be detail oriented and provide prompt and accurate administration.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, Section 125, and Medicare.
