COURSE OBJECTIVE: To develop an understanding of the physical world from a variety of geographic perspectives. This will be accomplished through class discussions, hands-on activities and class readings. Students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic geographic relationships and concepts which form the basis of the field of Physical Geography.

GENERAL COURSE OUTLINE

There are several basic elements to the class. These include:

-Readings from a text

-Lectures about concepts related to Physical Geography

-Visual materials including slides, videos and hands on data

-Exercises related to the text and lecture materials

-Quizzes over the materials in the text and lectures

-Internet research

-Map work

-Completion of a project that apply numerous aspects of course work

-Project requirements include submitting an electronic version

-Project requirements are on the WEBSITE

-Final examination is OPEN BOOK comprehensive applying all materials

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

-You are expected to attend each class. You may not pass if you miss more than two class weeks.

-Materials not in your text are presented each week

-You need to print out the materials indicated from the WEBSITE

-Activities will be completed during class time

-Exercises and quizzes picked up late, turned in late, or taken late will earn fewer points

-If a snow day is declared by the school, any quiz scheduled will be given the next class

-If a snow day is declared by the school, any quiz already scheduled will be on the date scheduled

-Students, for good cause, will be able to turn in work or take quizzes late. (I determine good cause)

-You are expected to notify me by e-mail if you miss a class. I can in-turn relay instructions.

-Notify me before missing class if possible
