Dear headteacher,

The North of England Education Conference 2012

4 – 6 January, Royal Armouries, Leeds

Collectively we have been custodians of The North of England Education Conference for over a hundred years. During that time, the conference has launched the National Curriculum, Ofsted, ERA, ROSLA, and most of the other major changes within education in the last century. We are building upon this tradition in Leeds at the start of what will be a fantastic Olympic year, and I am grateful for the support that colleagues have already provided, and look forward to you and your colleagues joining us for this prestigious and inspirational conference. Your partnership and the presence of your schools will play an essential part in making this NEEC one to remember. We have built on previous years’ events to make this year’s conference a national fixture, but we also want this conference to impact across the region in our schools and learning places.

In this spirit we would like to extend to you and your leadership teams the same offer that we have made available to all of our schools here in Leeds – a discounted price of £395 for the full conference, compared to £495 for a
full-price ticket.

We all acknowledge the challenges and pressures that are shaping our work at the moment. The significant shift in national legislation, the changing learning landscape and, not least, the necessity to deliver services with far less funding. And all this as we continue to find creative and engaging ways to help children and young people learn and succeed.

In this climate it’s more important than ever that we find ways of working together that bring results, that inspire change and that challenge convention. With its focus on ‘passion, potential, performance’, the Leeds North of England Education Conference 2012 will do just that, and much, much more. Our dynamic programme, chaired by our conference president, Mick Waters, includes keynotes from Professor Sir Tim Brighouse, Steve Munby, Nick Hudson and Jude Kelly; debates with Dylan Wiliam and Barry Hymer; and workshops with the BBC, Stephen Heppell, John Dunford and André Imich. Add in Olympic representation from Jonathan Edwards and the ministerial address for a powerful conference experience. And because it’s on your doorstep too, travel costs are low and there are no accommodation costs to cover.

I hope that you and your colleagues will join us here in Leeds for a truly memorable event that will equip us all for the challenges that lie ahead. To take advantage of our offer, simply use the promotional code below when booking on our website.

I look forward to seeing you in Leeds.
