Hugh Quinn summarized the minutes of the December Board meeting as follows: The TGA has decided to set up a new website and the address is The website has been set up by Jim Williams. Ryan Quiggle will finalize the 2009 tournament schedule with Kitty Visintine soon. John will work with Tanglewood on identifying caterers for our events next year as Tanglewood will no longer have in-house catering. Match Play tournaments will be tightened up next year so as to end much earlier than this year’s events. We need to ask Chuck Burkhart if he plans to continue as Handicap Chairman next year. Discussion occurred on the dues for 2009. In order to keep our same commitments to Tanglewood and the members and the likelihood we might lose some members due to the economic situation, the decision was made to increase the dues to $115. We will ask Mike Wilcox for permission to put notices about TGA membership on the golf carts this winter and spring. Motion and second to approve the December minutes. Approved.

Financial Report: Jim Williams reviewed the 2008 financial activity with a handout. Income for the year was slightly below budget by $729 ($20,014 vs. $20,743). Expenses were also slightly below budget by $519 ($19,031 vs. $19,550). We increased our reserve by $210. Jim reviewed the budget for 2009. We anticipate income of $18,920 and expenses of $19,328. Cash on hand will cover the budgeted deficit. We anticipate 115 full members and 35 Handicap-only members in 2009, which is down from 126 and 46, respectively, in 2008. Motion and second to approve the 2009 budget. Approved.

Tournament Committee: John and Jim reported on behalf of Ryan Quiggle who was unable to attend. The 2009 tournament schedule was distributed. First event is Easy Day on February 21 on the Reynolds Course. The March event will be a membership scramble. Each team of 4 needs to include a new member or a non-member.

Social Meetings and Summer League: James Gore, 2nd Vice Chairman, reported that the Summer League will begin the Wednesday after the time change in March. Play will begin at 5 p.m. and more information will be posted on the website. James will also work with Dave Larmour on the Match Play events for the year. Dave reported that we will start the events in April and conclude no later than October. If members cannot establish an agreeable time, Dave and James will address the situation.

Handicap Committee: Nick Hamner has agreed to serve as chair this year and James Gorewill assist him. The plan is to continue to follow the philosophy established by the previous committee. Nick announced a CGA Rules Seminar on Thursday, Feb 5, at Forsyth Country Club from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Any member may attend.

Old Business: The TGA is carrying over $750 from last year and with $500 from this year, we will be able to provide $1,250 to Tanglewood this year to help finish the yardage markers on the Reynolds Course tees and the markers at the driving range at the par-3 course. It was suggested that the markers on Reynolds #17 be re-evaluated since it appears they are not accurate. Message passed along to Chad and Kitty who were in attendance.

New Business: The TGA will participate in the CGA Interclub again this year. We will post sign-up sheets in the locker room when dates and locations are available. John is the contact for the Interclub. We also asked Tanglewood, thru Kitty and Chad, to include a mention of the TGA in their newspaper ads they will run this spring, similar to what they did in 2008. Hugh mentioned the visitation and funeral service for Scottie Graham will be Wednesday evening at the Hayworth Miller Funeral Home and Thursday at Clemmons UMC.

50-50 Raffle: The winner was Louis Stiles. If history holds true, last year’s winner was John Nieters and he won the Club Championship. How about it Louis?

Forty-one people in attendance. Meeting adjourned at 8:25 p.m.
