JewelCount Manual
Congratulations on your purchase of the JewelCount – Diamond and stones counting machine. Please follow the instructions in this sheet to get error free and long service from your counting machine.
Setting UP
Placement : JewelCount requires a firm, horizontal surface to function properly. Moving or vibrating surface will reduce the efficiency of the machine. If while running, the area of the table near JewelCount feels to be vibrating, then you are loosing power and will make JewelCount run either slower or faster or fluctuating between slow and fast.
is the main Start / Pause Key and works like an Enter key in many cases.
are the UP / DOWN keys. Pressing UP and Down together will make the machine enter the speed Program mode.
Changes the mode between ALL and SET. All counts all pieces and keeps running until START / PAUSE is pressed. SET allows you to enter the number of stones required and stops after the required number of pieces are counted.
Clears the count or the requested number of pieces- effectively allowing you to start from 0.
Speed Tuning : when you first start using JewelCount or if you change the placement or table on which JewelCount was running you may need to tune the speed of counting. The speed can be controlled in two ways
1 Program Mode :
There are two speeds which can be programmed in to the machine PGM 1 and PGM 2. PGM 1 is the normal speed of the machine while PGM 2 is the slow speed at which the last 10 stones are counted when the machine is in SET mode.
To set PGM 1 and PGM 2 for your environment pls do the following.
- put around 200 pieces of non precious stones of medium size in to the machine and press the START button – the stones will start to move.
- Press the UP and DOWN button together to enter the Program Mode the screen will display PGM 1
- Note the normal frequency setting on the screen. Pressing UP and DOWN will increase or decrease the frequency setting. As the setting is increased the speed of the stones will increase to a certain setting and then it will start to fall note the setting which gives the highest speed. Press START the screen will display PGM 2
- Increase the setting to slow down the stones so that they are moving very slowly and press START.
- JewelCount will enter Normal Mode and start running at the regular speed.
2. Power Tuning : (not required normally)
Power can be increased or decreased to increase or decrease the speed of movement of the stones in the machine. This may be necessary only if the stones are moving too violently on the tray or too slowly on the tray and setting thru the PGM mode on on the keypad is not satisfactory. Power tuning can be done using a regular – type screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver in to the hole indicated with the arrow and carefully engage the setting notch. Turning clockwise will increase the power while turning anticlockwise will decrease the power and so the speed. Adjust very slowly till the stones stop bouncing and move in a smooth fluid motion.
Starting : connect the included power adapter and move the switch to the on position. The display will light up and display the welcome message with the initial count to 0 (“CLR” button will always clear the count to 0) with an “=” at the end “=” indicates that the machine is not running and is in a Paused state. Pressing “START” will change the indicator to a “>” which says that the machine is running. Pressing “START / PAUSE” repeatedly will alternate between “=” and “>” indicating that the machine is either paused or running.
Pour the stones in the tray slowly and carefully. Distributing round the center of the tray . even distribution ensures that the stones progress gradually on he track providing continous counting.
Do not fill too many stones – only fill the center of the tray. Once the counting starts and the tray becomes partially empty you can keep adding stones slowly while the machine is running.
If you want a set number of pieces press “ALL/SET” the screen shows that the mode has been changed to “SET” Pressing “ALL / SET” repeatedly will alternate between “ALL” and “SET” mode.
In the set mode you can enter the number of pieces required – if the indicator is not 0 or if you make a mistake you can press “CLR” to clear the setting before entering the new value. Press “START” to start counting. The machine will count at the normal speed and will move to the slower speed (PGM 2) for counting the last 10 pieces.
