Positive Self Coaching

Neurons that fire together, wire together. We know that the more we practice a skill, the more likely that it will become rote. This is why we take great care to make sure that we use all of the learning channels to give our students multiple opportunities to interact with our content. We do what we can to get those neurons firing so that our content will be put into long term memory.

This concept of neurons firing together and wiring together is not limited to our subject area content. It also works when it comes to SELF: self esteem, self worth, self efficacy, and self talk. Think about it. We are always talking to ourselves. Our talk may be positive or negative. Either way, the more we talk to ourselves, the stronger the connections in our brain become. We are reinforcing the thoughts, which then lead to more of the same type of thoughts. Let 's take charge of what we are saying to ourselves and help our students do the same....
