Lichfield Table Tennis Club
2013 Summer League Handicap Tournament
You are invited to enter the Lichfield Table Tennis Club Summer League for 2013.
The detailed rules follow, but in essence, it will be a handicap tournament played in a league format using a random draw to start with. All matches will be played on a Monday night at King Edwards between the weeks of 13th May and 15th July, so it will take around two months to complete the league.
Anyone could play all their matches in two or three weeks if they want to, or spread them out over the timetable. There will be no fixture list, so matches can be played between individuals whenever convenient to both. Results should be passed to one of the organising committee once the games have been played, and the league will be updated each week based on the results.
With all the league matches played by 15th July, we then intend to hold the quarter finals on the 22nd, and the semi’s and Final on the 29th, followed by a party like it was really Christmas all over again. There will be trophies for the winner and runner-up.
To confirm your entry please complete the following tear-off slip and hand it to one of the committee in plenty of time to be entered. Failure to do so by 6th May will result in exclusion – no exceptions – you have been warned!

Lichfield Table Tennis Club
2013 Summer League Handicap Tournament - Rules
1.The Tournament will start on a league basis, and commence on Monday 13th May, following the club AGM. All league matches must be played by 15th July.
2.There will be 4 leagues. Each player within a league will play each other once. The league winners and runners-up, based on wins and sets difference, will go into the knock-out stage of the competition.
3.Only the players who have entered by Monday 6th May, and are listed on the Players and Handicaps list are eligible to play in a league.
4.Each set shall consist of four games, two from each end of the table, each starting at "love-all". Each game shall end when one player reaches 11 points, irrespective of the opponent’s score. (i.e. 11-10 is a result).
5.The points from the four games shall be added together to find the overall score. Player A's overall score will then be amended by an allowance or penalty calculated by reference to the differences in handicaps in the chart below. The player with most points after this amendment wins the match. If the points are equal, the match is a draw.
8.The winning player gets two points in the league table. In the event of a draw, each player shall receive one point.
9.In the event of a draw in the knockout stages, the match shall be replayed.
PLAYER ALLOWANCE/ PENALTY
Calculate the difference between the player's individual handicaps. Use the chart to work out the value of the allowance or penalty. If player “A” has the higher handicap, a penalty (-) is given; if player “A” has a lower handicap, an allowance (+) is given.
