Communiqué from the National Bipartite Action Group

May 2015

To: Local Bipartite Action Groups

The National BAG met on 7th May 2015. Key items from the meeting included:

Ø  Protecting Staff from Violence

Draft guidelines for Protecting Staff from Violence were presented at the meeting with NBAG members to review the guidelines ready for a discussion at the June meeting.

Ongoing Initiatives-Issues for Noting

Ø  Vaccinations

It was confirmed that South Canterbury DHB will be following the National BAG guidelines.

It was suggested that sharing communications from the unions strongly supporting vaccinations would be seen by employees as reinforcing a very positive message.

If local BAGs have any successes they wish to share, or issues they wish to raise, please feel free to contact us at NBAG.

Ø  Safe Staffing Healthy Workplaces Update

The SSHW governance held a face to face meeting with a focus on going through the recommendations for Care Capacity Demand Management.

An action plan will be developed for each sector within the DHBs.

Ø  Bargaining Update

NZNO

NZNO are currently running ratification meetings for the NZNO Nursing and Midwifery MECA. There are still two weeks of meetings to go.

APEX

The Medical Physicists members have rejected the offer made by the DHBs to settle the APEX Medical Physicists MECA. APEX is seeking to attend mediation.

PSA

Further bargaining occurred on 5th May 2015 where it was agreed to put bargaining on hold until the NZNO MECA was settled.
