Resource Coordinator
Position Summary
The Resource Coordinator supports the Philanthropy Department with donor and other philanthropy administration functions and the Education Department with project management for the Winston-Salem Symphony’s (WSS) volunteer program. The Resource Coordinator works closely with members of the Philanthropy and Education Departments, volunteers, patrons, and community partners.
Primary Accountabilities
Philanthropy Support
· Assist in developing and implementing the fundraising plan
· Manage data entry and maintenance of the donor database
· Planning and execution of fundraising and recognition events
· Conduct special event sponsor prospect research and prepare related briefing sheets
· Solicit corporations and individuals to support special event fundraising goals
· Support development of collateral materials
· Generate and send donor acknowledgement letters for special events
· Support grant proposal and report preparation
Volunteer Management
· Cultivate and manage strong relationships with volunteers and other community partners
· Maintain and communicate current volunteer job descriptions and volunteer needs
· Work with staff is determining volunteer needs specific to their department
· Manage volunteer recruitment, including administration of volunteer applications and background checks
· Coordinate volunteer assignments, volunteer direction/training and volunteer assessment
· Input and maintain volunteer data; track and analyze volunteer impact
· Support creation and publication of volunteer information for digital, print and other platforms
· Manage volunteer facilitated Instrument Petting Zoo and Rent-A-Zoo program inclusive of coordinating school/community contracts, volunteer recruitment, etc.
· Coordinate annual Volunteer Appreciation event, including coordinating solicitation of donated volunteer appreciation recognition gifts
· Assist with Academy administrative support.
External Relations
· Serve as an ambassador, promoting a positive image/reputation for the organization (public speaking required)
· Attend concerts and other Symphony events, as required
· Provide general office administration assistance as needed
Required Experience & Training
· Bachelor’s Degree required
· Results-driven, resourceful and action-oriented
· Excellent written and oral communication skills (including demonstrated public speaking ability)
· Excellent planning and organizational skills with ability to multi-task successfully
· Able to work equally effectively independently and as a member of a team
· Demonstrated ability to build, supervise and motivate teams and individuals in a collaborative manner
· Creative
· Technologically savvy with excellent Microsoft Office skills and solid experience with database and fundraising software a plus
· Graphic design skills helpful
· Fluency in Spanish also helpful
Conditions of Employment
· Successful completion of a criminal history background clearance
· Successful completion of a national sex offender registry clearance
· Successful drug screening may be required
