Business Management E-Day Calamity Day Assignment
1. First, create a list titled, “Top Ten Reasons To Join FFA!” Second, create a brochure encouraging classmates to join FFA. Include the mission of the FFA, a description of the organization, benefits, activities, and any other information you think would be helpful in recruitment. / 2. Choose an agriculture business related article (there are piles in the classroom). Create an advertisement for this article (think billboard) and write a one-page summary of the article and why you chose it. Be sure to include the title of article you chose. / 3. Create a poster in support of Agriculture Literacy. Then, write one full page describing your poster and how knowledge of agriculture is important for EVERYONE. / 4. Get an agriculture-business article from the room that you believe could have a second/alternate side/ point of view. Write a two-page letter to the editor explaining your side of the story. Be sure to include the name of the article you chose and which magazine it was printed in.5. Identify five skills or habits that you feel are the most important for high school students to learn in order to be successful in their future. Write two pages explaining how these skills/habits will make students successful. / 6. Create a business management action/adventure picture book for an elementary school student that is related to ag business. Your book must be a minimum of ten pages, be fully colored, and include a one sentence caption on each page. / 7. Research an ag business career- using the internet – and create a poster that explains the following- career title, education requirements, 5 tasks that they complete, 5 places that they could work (specific), salary range, and 5 other facts. / 8. Choose an agriculture business related advertisement from a magazine the classroom. Write a letter of application to the CEO of this company. Be sure to include the name of “advertisement” in your letter.
9. Design a FFA t-shirt for this year’s FFA Chapter. The t-shirt should include or depict an animal related theme of your choice. Write one page describing your design and why you chose this theme. / 10. Create a poster promoting two different agriculture business careers. Then, write a one-page explanation of your poster. You are welcome to use a large piece of paper instead of a poster (tape 4 pieces together). / 11. Write a minimum of two pages explaining the “perfect” agriculture business workplace. Be sure to include examples, either fictional or personal. Be sure your examples are realistic and ethical. / 12. Pick a species of livestock (beef, pig, sheep, goat, dairy cow, chicken, etc.) and draw a picture of it. After researching on the internet, include all possible products that come from the animal and diagram where they come from. Don’t forget by-products
13. Many important events have happened throughout our history that made a significant impact on agriculture businesses. Write two pages discussing the importance of Americans understanding agriculture business history. / 14. Create a song or poem. The theme of your song/poem may be the business management, FFA, Ag literacy, or the latest unit you are studying. Your song/poem must be a minimum of one page. / 15. Write a 2 pg. news article for the high school Newsletter! Choose from the following topics: college and career readiness, Ag literacy, being a positive influence, 21st century skills, or how today’s youth will change the world. / 16. Write a two-page letter thanking someone who has had a positive influence in your life. Be sure to tell them how they influenced you and why you are grateful for what they did.
In order to give you some freedom and choice in your activities during calamity day(s), I have created an activity grid! You should choose one (or more) of the assignments below to complete in exchange for missed class time. When you complete your assignment, be sure to include the number of the assignment you chose somewhere on your assignment and turn it in within two weeks of the missed day of school. When an assignment is completed, cross it off your grid. You may not complete that assignment again.
