FROM THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE

Dear Parents & Friends of the School
It has been a very busy start to the term and the children are probably ready for the short break over Easter.
Have a wonderful Easter break with your family. The weather should be good so do take the time to relax and enjoy yourselves.
David Crickmer, Principal

BUSES
Henderson High, Oratia and ourselves are meeting with Ritchies next week. Thank you for the letters and emails I have received about the deplorable bus ‘service’ we receive at present – they have helped bring extra pressure to bear.
I will let you know the outcome.
BUSES CONTINUED
A child recently misbehaved on a Go West bus (the firm has taken over from Stagecoach) going home after school. The behaviour was quite unacceptable.
The local manager of Go West was contacted and proved most supportive. The child was banned from using the bus service for a week – exactly what would have happened if the child had misbehaved on an official school bus run.
We do expect excellent behaviour on the buses – school and public buses – going to and from school.
SUNNYVALE STATION
I have been contacted by Veolia, the firm which operates the train. There have been some incidents of children crossing the tracks in front of the train. This is deadly dangerous. Children get killed each year crossing the lines in front of a train.
Do get your child to use the bridge to cross the railway lines at Sunnyvale Station.
KEL ROBINSON CUP
The Kel Robinson Memorial Cup was awarded this week to Tysha Dehar from Rm 7 for being a conscientious worker who constantly displays the 5 C’s. Congratulations!
CHOCOLATE FISH AWARDS
The chocolate fish in the Merit Card draw this week were awarded to:
Stephanie Tansey (x2) Rm 12
Lianne Faitoai Rm 8
Michaela Ferguson Rm 5
Gloria Taliaivao Rm 1
Regan Shere Rm 5
SUMMITS FOR ED TRIBUTE TOUR
As a tribute to Sir Edmund Hillary, schools throughout New Zealand are climbing selected peaks near to their school. The peak selected for schools in West Auckland is Pukematekeo in the Waitakere Ranges. The climb (45 minutes) is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 13th April at 4.30pm, leaving the carpark near the Rangers Station on Fall Road (through the Waitakere Golf Course) off Te Henga Road.
If you and your child would like to take part in this nationwide tribute to Sir Edmund, please return the slip below to Mr Crickmer at school.
If enough children (and parents) are interested in taking part, I will try to organise a car pool to save on petrol costs.

EZEKIEL 33 EVENT
This is a fun day out for families and whanau. It would, however, be wise not to let your child attend this function by him/herself but for you all to go as a family/whanau. That way your child will be safe from any unwanted attention and you can all have a great family time together.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDER
Scholastic book order forms have been sent home this week. If you do want to order any books, please complete the form and return to school with the money before Wednesday, 2nd April.
ABSENCES
If your child is absent from school, do please let us know. You can phone (836-3175) or you can text us (027 436-3175). If you do this, it would be most appreciated. Having to phone you to check on the unexplained absence of your child is taking a lot of time.
Have a very safe and happy Easter! … From the team at Bruce McLaren Intermediate
