Guidelines

The Peer Assessor Nomination and Consent form assists Staff in the Culture Division with establishing a comprehensive list of potential assessors for the volunteer peerassessment committee to evaluate culture grant applications. We encourage all organizations to participate in this nomination process to ensure representation of Mississauga’s cultural and artistic diversity.

We are looking for peer assessors who are:

  • Practicing arts and culture professionals with a minimum of twoyears’ experience in one of the following fields; dance, theatre, visual arts, film, heritage, museums, music, or festivals and celebrations.
  • These individuals must be connected to Mississauga as a resident, through their place of employment or have a prominent role as an arts & culture expert outside the city.
  • Mississauga-based community leaders with experience volunteering for Boards of Directors and a demonstrated commitment to the City of Mississauga.
  • Not currently in a relationship with any group or organization currently seeking funding from the City of Mississauga’s grant programs.

Those chosen to participate on the Peer Assessment Committee will be required to:

  • Commit to participating with the Peer Assessment Committee for a period of two years.
  • Review all grant applications prior to the peer assessment meetings.
  • Meet forthree full days each Decemberto recommend organizations for funding.
  • Collaborate with a team of volunteers to asses and make recommendations concerning the distribution of funds to Culture Division grant applicants.

Peer Assessment Committee members may not serve longer than four consecutive years.
