  • Obtain your Chairperson’s Letter of Support and signature on the Call for Applications.
  • Submit both documentsto the VITAL Office by Friday, April 20, 5:00p.m.

Letter of Support (by Chairperson in Department) – speaks to the significance of the faculty member’s teaching conference participation in relation to his/her instructional responsibilities and contributions.

Post-Conference Reflective Essaydue Monday, June 11, 2018– (one page)describesprofessional instructional gains from teaching conference participation and intended application of knowledge gained to course development and instruction.

Conference Travel Fellowship applies to:
Lilly Conference 2018, May 31 – June 2, Bethesda, MD.:

Hotel reservations have been made for the nights of Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 2, with an anticipated departure date of Saturday, June 2.

Statementof Purpose(one page) includes the following sections:

(1) Gains:
Reflect on your first year’s teaching experience at Villanova. What have you learned about your students’ learning, and your teaching and assessment approaches? Given your experiences, how might you benefit from attending the teaching conference? What are you most interested in gaining from this teaching-focused conference?

(2) Proposed Session Attendance Based on Conference Schedule

What conference sessions would you like to attend and how will they enhance the students’ learningexperience, your teaching approaches, your assessment of students’ learning, and your academic
career development?

(3) Dissemination Plan:
How will you share what you have learned at the conference with your colleagues during the
2018-2019 academic year? For example, serve as a panelist at the New Faculty Program in
August 2018, facilitate a Food for Thought discussion session on a teaching topic from the Lilly Conference, and/or conduct a teaching session for faculty in your department.
