Environment and location
The development fundraiser will be based at our Eastbourne office with regular travel to Chestnut Tree House near Arundel(where the Fundraising Development Manager is based).
Job purpose
To raise money from high value and major donors, managing the relationship of the individual with Chestnut Tree House. To be the lead specialist at our Eastbourne office on major gifts, creating a programme for securing sustainable income for Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.
Principal duties and responsibilities
- To develop fundraising opportunities for the children’s hospice from high value individuals through research, targeted appeals, presentations, approaches, networking and liaison.
- Develop a strategy to secure and maximise funds from high value individuals.
- Develop and take responsibility for plans and budgets which will deliver income through major donor giving.
- To manage fundraising records and data to a high standard and in an appropriate way.
- Work closely with the Fundraising Development Manager to ensure that plans for East Sussex fundraising from high value individuals sit within the overall strategy.
- Work closely with other fundraisers at Eastbourne, Chestnut Tree House and across the Department ensuring that major gift fundraising integrates within the overall programme.
- Work closely with all departments (especially those that are focused on care) to identify fundraising opportunities, share plans and add value.
- Work closely with senior managers, Directors and Trustees to maximise fundraising opportunities and build long term relationships for the hospice.
- Provide regular feedback and internal reporting to line manager.
- Support colleagues and contribute to the overall fundraising strategy and planning process.
- Act as a specialist resource in East Sussex and at Chestnut Tree House on major donor fundraising.
Person Specification
Qualifications and or Experience
- Good standard of Education to at least A-level or equivalent
- Two years experience of fundraising or developing key business relationships with individuals
- Experience of undertaking research activity
