Course Description: Seventh Grade English Language Arts course integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening with the goal of producing strategic, fluent, and effective readers, writers, speakers and listeners. This class is meant to reach the needs of all learners while using rigorous, at grade-level texts (informational and literary).Students will practice speaking and listening skills by writing and interacting in a variety of group settings.

A: 90-1004 (exceeding): 100%1.5: 68%

F: 0-59.992 (approaching): 74%

Celebration of Learning (Tests, quizzes, essays, in-class assignments and exit slips) = 90% of overall grade

Homework/Notebook/Binder checks = 10% of overall grade (Students will receive weekly homework. This is to be done at home, as class time will not be given to complete the assignment.)

All late work will be accepted. It is the student’s responsibility to be knowledgeable about current assignments and grades.

Accommodations and Modifications:Accommodations andModifications to this course will be made based on TAG, IEP or 504 identifications. These changes are on an individual basis to best meet the needs of the student. Please contact the teacher for questions.

Behavior and Work Habit Expectations:A work habits grade will be earned based on quality and completion of class work and homework, as well as participation in class. A citizenship grade will be earned based on behavior.
