Are you surprised by how many instructions there are? Why are instructions important? / Write your own set of instructions. Perhaps you could give instructions about how to score a goal, plait hair or tie a shoe lace. It is up to you! Remember to include the features of instructional writing that we have learnt about in class. / Read a science fiction story- this can be from our school library or even online.

Science and the Outside environment(Science, Healthy lifestyles, PE, Eco issues and investigation) / Take a look around your home. What objects in your home need electicity to work? What doesn’t need electicity?
Make a list of each. / What electrical appliances do you have at home? What might people have used as alternatives before electricity was discovered? /

Humanities and Citizenship
(History, Geography, Moral & Social and Economic Awareness) / Research the history of electricity. Who discovered electricity? How was it discovered? When was it discovered? What is electricity? How does it affect your life? / Carry out some research on areas of the world that don’t have electricity. i.e areas of Africa. How does this affect daily life? Write a paragraph detailing this. / At home, pretend you are living in a century when electicity has not yet been invented. All electrical appliances must be switched off for one hour. What is it like? Was life more difficult or simpler before electricity was discovered? Record you experience by writing a diary entry. / What are the benefits of saving electricity?

Creative Arts
(Art, Design & technology, Music, Drama & Dance) / Design a car that is powered by electicity. Can you include any of the features of a circuit? This should be annotated. / Draw and label a switch, a bulb, a buzzer and a motor using the correct symbols. Now draw them in a series circuit. / Choose a recipe and follow the instructions given.Were the instructions helpful? Did they help you to succeed? / How has design and technology helped shape the world? Have there been key inventions that have contributed to this?
Research and record you findings.
