2.WORD

Why God ?Part 1(1Peter 1:3-7)

By Pr Alex Tan

BIG IDEA:

Jesus suffered not so that we might not suffer. Jesus suffered so that when we suffer we might become like him.

  • Read the scripture passage.
  • Do a THREE-MINUTE SUMMARY of the sermon highlighting theKEY POINTS. Do not preach the whole sermon again, as majority of your members would have heard the sermon already. Allocate more time for sharing in the cell through the application questions below.
  • Sermon Resource at:

Reflection & Application Questions:

1. How did the Holy Spirit speak to you through the weekend's message?
2. Have you felt as though you suffered for nothing? How and why so?
3. What might your very own disturbing question be to God?
4. Do you truly love God for Himself or love God for the things or benefits you might receive from Him? What about your service towards Him and others?

Supplementary Resource (that may be shown in CGs):
Check out
1. the story of Auntie Anne's Pretzels related to pain and trials.
AND/OR
2. members’ Nick & Betty’s Story)

Note to Word leader:

As you are preparing for this session, this is a great time to pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you to use the questions efficaciously. You can select, modify or entirely create your own questions, according to the needs of your CG.
