3. / Review of November Minutes and Actions
Access to the NAPP email - Action completed since HD managed to get into the website using Internet Explorer and the Login and Password details provided by JL early last year. CW, PH and JD joined after that date so JL will e-mail them the necessary information.
Lichgate - The articlehighlighting the work of the PPG appeared in both the "Lichgate" and "Helmet". JA from Easter Compton would also like it to appear in their magazine "In View". A suggestion was made that the article could maybe appear in the Thornbury magazines. CW will look into this.
Operation Manager's Update re: Merger with Hanham - see Item 5 for updates and action response.
A letter has been drafted by CW with reference to the "walk in" surgery and circulated to the PPG members. Discussions on this letter is covered in Item 5.
Social Media - This has been postponed. A new date will be advised.

4. / Presentation by Mary Bennett from Carers Support
Mary Bennett is a development worker and works both with Almondsbury surgery and with other practices. She gave a short talk on carers and the issues surrounding them. There is no age barrier for carers, they can be anything from age 8 to over retirement age, and in many cases they are not easily identifiable. Many carers do not consider themselves to be carers, they are just looking after someone who needs help and often someone they love.
Carers need information, support, respect and recognition and each age range brings with it different needs and requirements. The Carers Support Centre is a local charity which helps carers of any age with benefits and financial advice. They give support in gaining access to services, short breaks away, social activities, training, emotional support, allowances and a Carers Emergency Card.
Carers medical records should show that they are a carer and in the Almondsbury surgery we have some 90 carers identified.As a PPG it would be useful to see what we could do to support these carers.
5. / Operations Manager Surgery Update and Merger Information

With regards to the General Data Protection Regulations (item 6 of the attachment) a recommendation was made by CW that it could be beneficial for the practice to take out an insurance policy to protect the surgery against any serious breaches of regulations from which penalties may occur.
With regard to the "walk in" surgery and the letter drafted by CW, it was felt that rather than have it as a condition within the merger, but to make Hanham health aware that the "walk in" surgery works very well and is very important to the patients at Almondsbury. Dr Lockyer knows how important this is to the patients and will have input when services are evaluated in the future. A response has been drafted by JL to cover the letter from CW.
There is a PPG forum meeting next Tuesday 27th February at Warmley. This is usually attended by representatives from all the PPGs in the area. It will be an opportunity for us to introduce ourselves informally to Hanham PPG and to see if the idea of our PPG attending one of their meetings would be acceptable. / CW / JL

6. / Correspondence from CCG
All relevant correspondence is distributed to the PPG members so that they are kept up to date on the various activities and can take part in any meetings / discussions that are relevant to the PPG.
PH attended the SGC Public Health & Well Being Service seminar held on 18th January at the community centre in Patchway. It covered the shaping of healthy lifestyle choices and well being services in South Glos. It identified the current services availableand there were discussions on:-
a) what influences the lifestyles and wellbeing of local people and
b) do the services support behaviour change.
7. / Flu Clinic - 6th October 2018
The PPG said that they would be able to support the clinic. It may be useful to have a rota for those not able to commit themselves for the whole morning.
JL will invite other health groups such as Carer's Support, AAA etc. to attend. These groups proved to be very useful in 2017 in providing information for the patients. / All
