2. Teaching – Nearpod Lesson “What is a pronoun” – this lesson will provide examples and practice using pronouns in different cases as wells as identifying the antecedent.
3. Summarizing – Ticket out the door – write a sentence using a pronoun –underline the pronoun and circle the antecedent.
4. Differentiation – sentence starters, oral reading, copy of notes provided

EQ: How do I analyze important information within a text to determine the main idea?
1. Activator – Play the Flocabulary main idea song http://www.flocabulary.com/main-idea , students define main idea, discuss whole group
2. Teaching - Construct the “table” foldable in their interactive notebook and write the notes on it. Discuss the “hamburger method” for determining main idea and construct the “huck hamburger” in their interactive notebook. View the Huckleberry Finn song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAxWT25ugUw
3. Summarizing – Review and write steps to determining main idea on hamburger foldable in interactive notebook

EQ: How is the main idea conveyed through central ideas in the text?
1. Activator – Review main idea hamburger in interactive notebook
2. Teaching – Read Chapter 2 – “Harris and Me”, using the hamburger method, determine the main idea and cite evidence form the text that supports it. Answer chapter 1 and 2 review questions whole group
3. Summarizing – “2$ summaries” - With each word worth 10 cents, write a $2 summary of the events in Harris and Me through chapter 2

1. Activator – Students will complete a blog entry on the teacher website to answer the essential question
2. Teaching – Students will work on leveled lessons in Moby Max and/or read independently using Myon reader – some students will retest on lesson 1 as needed
3. Summarizing – share the main idea of your independent reading selection with a partner.
