Mini-M terminals can be made ready for exclusive ChatCard use without blocking the possibility of using SIM Cards. For instance the captain can use his company SIM card for making all kind of calls but after he has removed his SIM Card the terminal can only be used to make ChatCard calls via Short Access Code 64.Below you find instructions on how to configure mini-M terminals from Thrane & Thrane and NERA for this purpose.
Thrane & Thrane mini-M Capsat 3060
First you have to enable Phone Book dialling. This feature is protected by the CONFIG PIN code.In three steps you can restrict dialling to 64 only for ChatCard use.
1Change CONFIG PIN
When you receive the mini-M from the factory the CONFIG PIN is empty. Insert and change the old code as follows:
-Enter the menu (2nd + menu)
-scroll down to <PIN Codes> and press <OK>
-scroll down to <CONFIG PIN> and press <OK>
Enter old PIN code and press <OK>. (Just press -OK- if no Pin code is inserted)
-Enter new pin code and press <OK>.
-Retype new pin code and press <OK>.
-Now the CONFIG PIN is updated to the new pin code, you have chosen. (Be aware that your CONFIG PIN code has to be between 4-8 digits).
-Write down the new Config PIN and keep it on a safe place!
-Return to the “main” menu by pressing <Exit> a few times.
2Enable <Phone Book dial>
-Enter the menu (2nd + menu)
-select <Config> and press <OK>
-select <Phone Book dial> and press <OK>
-Enter CONFIG PIN and press <OK>
Select <MES only> "Only numbers from MES phone book can be called"
-Enter choice with <OK>
-Return to the “main” menu by pressing <Exit> a few times.
3Insert ChatCard number 64 in the Phone Book
-Enter the menu (2nd+Menu) and Phone Book ( + OK) and select the insert function (2nd+C).
-Now you will be asked for the CONFIG PIN before being able to insert or change entries.
-Now enter Short Access Code 64 and press <OK>.to accept.
-Enter the name <ChatCard> and press <OK>.
-Enter a “Short Number”, e.g. 1 if this is the first entry in the Phone Book, and Press <OK>.
-Return to the “main” menu by pressing <Exit> a few times.
NERA WorldPhone (mini-M)
You have to configure the terminal for “Dial from Book only”. This can be done from the Owner Level. This level is protected by a password.
1Shift to Owners level
-Press <Menu> and scroll down to <Set Access level>
-<Selct> opens the <Set access> level window
-Select “Owner” and enter the password (note that the default password is 1234567890)
-For a better security this password should be changed.
2Configure the phone to “Phone book only”
-Press the <Menu> function key and scroll down to <Advanced functions>
-<Selct> opens the <Access control menu>
-open the <Restrict dial> window which shows the current mode:
No restrictions
Barred list
Dial from Book only
-Select <Dial from Book only>
-Pressing <Book> allows 64 to be added to the phone book list.
- Shift back to User level
-Press <Menu> and scroll down to <Set Access level>
-<Selct> opens the <Set access> level window
-Select “User”. This will lock the Worldphone to “Phone book only”
Note for enhanced security we advise you to change the default Owner-level password:
- Select Menu,
-Select Set access level
-Select Edit
-Enter old Owner password
-Type and retype the new Owner password
(must be 10-12 digits)
-Change back to User level.
-Write down the new Owners PIN and keep it on a safe place.
