TITLE: Federal Program Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:High School graduate or GED.

Ability to communicate effectively with parents and respond to telephone calls.

Aptitude for computer data entry.

10-key by touch.

Must be computer literate

REPORTS TO:Federal Meals/Technology Coordinator

JOB GOAL:To contribute to the efficient daily operation of the Nutrition Department.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Processes and files National School Lunch/School Breakfast Program (NSLP/SBP) applications per USDA guidelines, in a timely manner. Applications must be reviewed and an eligibility determination made within 10 operating days of the receipt of the application. This requires that the specialist be available after regular duty hours and weekends as deemed necessary. After the first two months of school’s starting, the daily routine should return to normal.
  2. Responsible for mailing notification of benefits and/or changes to parents/guardians.
  3. Responsible for keeping NSLP/SBP files current.
  4. Responsible for Edit Check accuracy. Register reports must be verified with the Edit Check Daily Report. Participation percentages must be monitored.
  5. Responsible for compiling information accurately for monthly reimbursement claims, to include:

*Primero Daily Reconciliation of register sessions

*Daily reconciliation of cafeteria bank deposits

*Primero – Daily Campus Activity Reports

*Primero – Daily Meal Count

*Maintain monthly problem log spreadsheet

*After School Snack Program participation

  1. Assist the Federal Meals/Technology Coordinator with Verification process.
  2. Responsible for assisting parents personally, by mail or by telephone.
  3. Assist managers with Primero transaction adjustments and Absence Reports.
  4. Must be mentally alert to avoid situations that could damage other employees in a potentially dangerous environment.
  5. Performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

All campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors. Job requires physical mobility, standing, prolonged sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling (20 pound maximum). Job may also require climbing stairs, stooping, bending and reaching over head. Working conditions may be modified under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for diagnosed medical conditions.

EVALUATION:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of paraprofessional personnel.
