TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10

8:30 – 4:00 Adventure-Based Learning Experience (ABLE)

(Module #1: Now That You’re an AmeriCorps Member & Team Building)

We will meet on Franklin Street at 8:30 to board the bus and depart for Camp Stella Maris (4395 East Lake Road, Livonia, NY) by 8:45 am. We will not be having morning refreshments or entering Damon City Campus before leaving for camp.

ABLE activities center on developing increased communication,

trust, team building, enhanced group process, and leadership. These goals will be accomplished by utilizing the low ropes and group activities and high ropes challenges. The high ropes element provides individual risk-taking in a safe and controlled environment. The ropes course staff strongly adheres to the basic tenet of Project Adventure: Challenge by Choice. Through this framework they will help our group experience the four primary outcomes of adventure/ropes course activities: trust, communication, cooperation, and fun.

Wear close-toed shoes and casual clothes appropriate for active, outdoor activities. Be prepared for the possibilities of Rochester-area weather--you may get dirty and wet.

Lunch will be provided at Camp Stella Maris.
