Description
Guardian Ceramic Primer is a high performance one coat silane adhesive primer with UV tracer designed to bond Guardian Ceramic Coating satin/gloss to ceramic tiles, formica, glass and porcelain and has the capability for QC monitoring of the primed surface. To accomplish this, Guardian Ceramic Primer contains a special UV fluorescing agent which permits close visual scrutiny of the adhesive coated surface to reduce variability and wasteage. Low intensity UV lamps are hung in the QC area or near the priming line to visually observe continuity, coating weight, and detect improper wetting due to surface contamination. The UV fluorescing agent does not affect adhesion or shelf stability of the primer.
Application/Surface Preparation
Guardian Ceramic Primer is best applied by spray application in a light even coat.
Typical coverage via spray application to non porous substrates 30m2 @ 2micron DFT
It is recommended that the substrate be thoroughly degeased with solvent degreaser.
The adhesive coated surface should be permitted to hydrolyze in moist air (50-80% RH) for one hour prior to application of the Guardian Ceramic Coating.
For best results, it is recommended that the time between priming and application of the finish coat remain under 24 hours. Repriming will restore bondability when required.

Safety Precautions
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Avoid contact with eyes, wear safety goggles.
- Wash thoroughly after using or before smoking or eating.
- Avoid contact with skin, wear PVC or rubber gloves.
- Avoid prolonged breathing of vapors and/or mists. Ensure adequate ventilation. For spray application and working in confined areas wear a positive pressure air supplied respirator. For short periods of work a combination of charcoal filter and particle filter is recommended.
- Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately. Treat symptomatically.
First Aid
- If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre.
- If swallowed, do not induce vomting. Give a glass of water.
- If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.
- If overcome by fumes remove from contaminated area. Apply artificial respiration if not breathing.
- If in eyes, hold eyes open, flood with water for at least 15 minutes and see a doctor.
Storage and Handling
- Keep away from heat sparks and open flame. Store in a cool and dry place.
- Do not open until ready to use.
- Protect from moisture. Keep storage containers full.
- Guardian Ceramic Primer is ready to use. Do not dilute. Diluents introduce moisture.

HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
INGESTION:
Harmful if swallowed. Ingestion is not an expected route of entry in industrial or commercial use.
EYE:
Irritant to eyes. Over exposure may cause lacrimation and redness.
SKIN
May be absorbes through the skin in harmful amounts. May cause skin irritation. Will dry on skin if not removed. Contact causes drying and defatting of the skin. Prolonged contact may cause dermatitis.
INHALATION:
Irritant to respiratory tract. Prolonged or repeated exposure may lead to symptoms such as dryness of the throat, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath. May cause central nervous system depression characterised by the following progressive steps: headache, dizziness, staggering gait, confusion, unconsciousness or coma. May cause headache and nausea. Aspiration of liquid into the lungs can cause serious pneumonitis.
CHRONIC
May cause liver or kidney damage. Repeated or prolonged solvent exposure may result in permanent central nervous system damage. May affect the blood and blood-forming organs. Inhalation, skin absorption, ingestion and eye contact are the primary routes of entry into the body. Chronic skin contact may cause dermatitis.

FIRST AID PROCEDURES
INGESTION
NEVER GIVE AN UNCONSCIOUS PERSON ANYTHING TO DRINK NOR ATTEMPT TO INDUCE VOMITING.
If person is conscious, rinse mouth out with water ensuring that mouth wash is not swallowed. Give about 250ml (2 glasses) of water to drink. DO NOT attempt to induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
EYE
Hold eyelids open and rinse the eye continuously with a gentle stream of clean running water for at least fifteen minutes. Seek medical attention.
SKIN
Remove contaminated clothing and wash thoroughly with soap and water. Use water alone, if soap is unavailable. Apply a moisturising hand cream, if available. Seek medical attention if any soreness or inflammation of the skin persists or develops later. Launder affected clothing before re-use.
INHALATION
Remove to fresh air. Keep warm and at rest. If breathing is laboured, hold in a half upright position (this assists respiration). Apply artificial respiration if breathing has stopped. Seek medical attention.
PRECAUTIONS OF USE
ENGINEERING CONTROL
Do not inhale vapours. Ensure good ventilation (dilution and local exhaust) in storage and use. The ventilation system should be non-sparking and grounded and separate from other exhaust ventilation systems. Where there is large scale use of this material, local exhaust ventilation with or without process enclosure may be necessary. Supply sufficient replacement air to make up for air removed by exhaust systems. The exhaust extract must be directed outside the building and at a point 1.25 times the building height to avoid fume re-entry. Caution: Solvent vapours are heavier than air and collect in lower levels of the work area.
PERSONAL PROTECTION
EYE/FACE PROTECTION
Chemical safety goggles with side shields or face shield.
SKIN PROTECTION
Impervious gloves, coveralls, boots and/or other resistant protective clothing. Easy access to a safety shower, eye wash fountain in the work area.
RESPIRATORY PROTECTION
If engineering controls and work practices are not effective in controlling exposure to the material then wear approved respiratory protection with organic vapour/particulate respirator meeting the requirements of AS/NZS 1715 and AS/NZS 1716. For airborne concentrations up to 1000ppm use a full face respirator fitted with a Class 2, Type A respirator.. When spraying in areas with insufficient or no replacement air, an approved full face air supplied respirator, full length chemically resistant coveralls and boots and gloves are recommended.

FLAMMABILITY
Highly flammable. If the product is heated, vapours can form flammable mixtures with air in poorly ventilated conditions. May evolve toxic fumes if heated strongly or burned. The product may react with strong oxidising agents, acids and bases. Hazardous decomposition products may be carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, chlorine, hydrogen chloride and phosgene. This product is stable under normal storage conditions.

STORAGE TRANSPORT
Usual precautions for Class 3. Store out of direct sunlight in a cool well ventilated area below 25C. Higher temperatures may cause pressure build up inside containers. Segregate from oxidising agents and acids. Protect containers against physical damage. Empty containers may contain product residue and flammable vapours, keep away from heat, sparks and flame; do not cut, puncture or weld on or near empty containers. Do not smoke where this product is used or stored.

SPILLS DISPOSAL
SPILLS: Ensure that there are no sources of ignition present. Remove unnecessary personnel from the affected area. Wear protective equipment as specified for handling. If possible, dam the spill. Cover with an absorbent such as earth, sand or a commercial oil absorber. DO NOT use combustibles such as sawdust. Sweep up and collect for disposal. Do not empty into drains.
DISPOSAL: If possible, return to supplier. Otherwise dispose in accordance with the local authority, or to approved land-fill.
FIRE EXPLOSION
Combustible. Containers may rupture if heated strongly.
Wear self contained breathing apparatus. If possible remove containers from the vicinity of the fire. Otherwise keep containers as cool as possible by spraying with water, from a protected position. Water is not effective for fire fighting and direct contact with water should be avoided. Extinguish using foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
