JOB DESCRIPTION

Title:Funding & Project Support Officer

Salary:£26,665 per annum (pro rata)

Hours:Part-time (22.5 hours per week)

Location:Barnsley Football Club, Oakwell Stadium, Barnsley S71 1ET

Reporting To:Chief Executive, Reds in the Community

Job overview:The post-holder will be responsible for researching and securing new sources of income to support the charity’s work. The post-holder will also produce progress reports and other material required by funders and supporters. The overwhelming majority of the work will be desk based and involve the researching, completion and submission of funding applications alongside relationship building and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Raise funds by preparing an agreed range of funding applications in line with RITC Business Plans, Strategic Plans and funding priorities.
  • Researching and identifying suitable sources of income to support the continuation of RITC activities.
  • Maintaining a thorough understanding of RITC activities in order to identify relevant opportunities and communicate about them effectively.
  • Liaising with colleagues and stakeholders about potential funding opportunities.
  • Ensuring a close fit between funding sought and RITC strategic objectives and other organisational priorities.
  • Planning carefully to ensure sufficient time to complete the highest quality funding applications and monitoring reports.
  • Working with colleagues to tailor projects to align with funding criteria.
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation is forwarded to the funding body as requested.
  • Submitting applications and monitoring reports to deadline.
  • Reviewing funders contracts/SLA’s/agreements and T&C’s attached to projects.
  • Liaise and advise finance on the assignment of new restricted funds.
  • Work with project delivery teams/finance to minimise over/underspend and ensure all issues concerning the success of funded projects are addressed as appropriate.
  • Following up the progress of applications.
  • Meeting and presenting to funders in order to gain support and awareness of RITC work.
  • Developing and implementing a personalized communications strategy with each funder where appropriate.
  • Liaising with colleagues regarding projects progress including planning, and agreeing project milestones for monitoring and evaluation purposes.
  • Establishing systems to gathering monitoring information throughout the lifetime of each project.
  • Effectively sourcing information internally to include in progress reports.
  • Maintaining up to date filing/scheduling systems for existing funded projects.
  • Participate in relevant RITC team and trustees meetings.
  • To carry out relevant administration, evaluation, prepare reports, undertake research, and provide briefings and management information as necessary.
  • To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the post
  • To comply with RITC policies and procedures.
  • This role may involvesome out of hours working and a willingness to work flexibly.
  • To undertake other such duties commensurate with the post, as may be required from time to time.

Essential skills, experience and characteristics

  • Educated to degree-level or equivalent or be able to demonstrate the equivalent proven employment experience. A/I
  • Experience working in bid writing, including preparation of funding applications for trusts, foundations or businesses. A/I
  • Experience of report writing (monitoring & evaluation) for funders and supporters. A/I
  • Proven track record in securing income from trusts, foundations or businesses.A/I
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to present RITC’s work effectively and persuasively to a range of stakeholders.A/I
