STATEMENT OF WORK
Residue Management – Ridge Till (346)

These deliverables apply to this individual practice. For other planned practice deliverables refer to those specific Statements of Work.
PLANNING
Deliverables:
Site specific planning assistance with the producer to evaluate before (benchmark) and after impacts of the planned practice. Generation of a practice specification demonstrating that NRCS practice standard criteria will be met by application of this practice and that it is compatible with its definition and purpose.
Planning requirements include:
1. Inform the decision maker that they are responsible for any required permits, (Idaho code 22-4803, Residue Burning), others as applicable.
2. Determine the principle soil erosion concern:
a. Sheet and rill erosion generated from snow melt and/or rainfall
b. Irrigation induced erosion generated from furrow irrigation.
c. Wind erosion.
3. Generation of a practice specification which includes:
a. Use of the appropriate erosion prediction tool to determine the before (benchmark) and with practice (planned) erosion rate.
i. Sheet and rill erosion: Current version of Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE).
ii. Irrigation Induced: Current version of Surface Irrigation Soil Loss model (SISL)
iii. Wind erosion: Current version of the Wind Erosion Equation.
b. Generation of a RUSLE reports regardless of the defined erosion concern which includes:
1. Benchmark and planned Soil Condition Index (SCI).
2. Benchmark and planned Soil Tillage Intensity Rating (STIR).
3. Benchmark and planned surface residue amounts and/or % cover.
IMPLEMENTATION
Deliverables
1. Pre-application conference with client.
2. Verification that client has obtained required permits.
3. Application guidance as needed.
4. Facilitate and implement required specification modifications with client.
5. Advise client/NRCS on compliance issues with all federal, state, tribal, and local laws, regulations and NRCS policies during implementation.
6. Certification that application of the practice meets specification and permit requirements

Deliverables
1. Records of application
a. Extent of practice units applied
b. Actual amount of residue present during critical period to meet targeted specification criteria.
2. Certification that the application meets NRCS standards and specifications and is in compliance with permits
