that society wants to exist

Bangkok 20 December 2012: The Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund under the Honda Thailand Foundation has continued its mission to help Thai people in times of disaster with the delivery of three types of vehicle that represent the first time these Honda automobiles and motorcycles have been modified in support of emergency medical operations. The vehicles include 10 Honda ambulances, 10 Motorlances and one communications vehicle with a total value of over 40 million baht. These innovative vehicles were presented to the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (NIEM) for faster and more efficient rescue and relief operations.

The total 21 units were comprised of three vehicle models including 10 ambulances modified from Honda Step WGNs Spada via the collaborative efforts of Honda and NIEM, 10 Motorlances modified from high-performance, sleek and maneuverable Honda CBR 250R motorcycles that can quickly reach injured people in times of traffic congestion or in narrow areas and a new Honda CR-V equipped with a siren, and communications systems.

Mr. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, Managing Director of the Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund and Executive Vice President of Honda Automobiles (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said, “By reaching an agreement to form an alliance with NIEM to prepare to help Thai people in times of disaster, the Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund is very delighted to deliver the vehicles including ambulances, Motorlances and a communications vehicle to NIEM. We hope that these vehicles will optimize and benefit emergency medical response operations. They will preliminarily apply to the hospitals that collaborate with NIEM in Greater Bangkok to reduce the fatality rate and minimize the severity of casualties among Thai people. This is in line with the goal of the Fund that the Honda Group of Companies in Thailand established to help Thai people in times of disaster that may occur in the future.”

According to Dr. Prachakvich Lebnak, Acting Secretary-General of NIEM, “It is great that the Honda Khiang Khang Thai Fund has realized the importance of supporting the efforts of the emergency medical system for the public by providing ambulances, motorlances and a communications vehicle for NIEM’s operations. The Honda ambulances will be put into service in areas where they are needed while the motorlances will be used in places where there is heavy traffic. Statistics from 2012 show a total of 1,052,784 emergency response times of within 10 minutes, which represents 84.5% of the total of 1,245,858 emergency responses. This collaborative effort with Honda will help to increase efficiency and ensure faster response, which will decrease fatalities and complications resulting from a slow response.”

“Honda is committed to creating quality and environmentally-friendly vehicles, together with providing benefits in return to the Thai public and society. This demonstrates our vision to create value and become a company that society wants to exist,” concluded Mr. Pitak.
