First meeting of the GridIronClub Executive Committee: BillRosburg- Coach, Scott Reinard- President, John Noonan- VP/Fundraising Chair, Beth Omang- Treasurer, Michelle Rosburg- Secretary

Billindicated that he prefers the “GridIron Club”as the name as this term is more inclusive of all team playersversus other options. He stated that the staff and committee members affiliated with GridIron are an extension of the Storm football family/staff. We will conduct ourselves and activities as an approachable and collaborative group.

We discussed that the intent of the GridIron Club is to help provide leadership, support and service to the football program through volunteers, led by this committee and various Chair persons. This includes ensuring all 3 communities of Carver, Chanhassen and Victoria feel distinctly part of the Chan HS program. Money is not the intended primary motivation for this club, but rather – “How can we enhance the players’ experience in the Chan Storm Football program?” Bill wants any and all community members to feel comfortable taking part in the GridIron Club.

Committee members agreed that we need to all communicate openly and honestly about thoughts/opinions in order to be a successful functioning group.Bill will not be attending every meeting, will be accessible and review all major items, logo, etc. but trusts the group to make decisions and select quality and integrity individuals for the roles we need. He said the ultimate goal of GridIron is to support and create opportunities for involvement with the Chan Storm football program. We will focus on these ideals:
- Operate and convey high integrity communications and image to the entire community
- Do not compare ourselves to other programs in the community- we want to differentiate ourselves
- Specifically promote inclusion of players and parents of all grade levels and other community members

To date, the football program has been almost entirely self-reliant and self-funded via 1 week fundraiser (and Blitz night) of selling Gold Cards, the Chan HS selected fundraising vehicle. These funds have been used to provide for: football camp prizes, food items (for all levels during the season, at summer camp, early morning workouts) Spaghetti dinners, paying volunteers, scholarships, posters, banners, apparel for players, etc.

We discussed/reviewed the job descriptions for the above mentioned 4 positions. John was asked to also be the Fundraising Chair as he has exposure to Lakeville and Eastview’swebsite /fundraising capabilities and it seemed a good use of his knowledge and connections. Beth will work on setting up 5013C to enable us to become an official non-profit organization and will soon after set up an account for us with checks, debit cards and we will determine expenditure amounts and threshold for multiple signature purchases and signers, checks & balances, etc.

Primary goals:

1)Website development, via a link from Chan HS/District 112 – easy access for all Chan football program and GridIron Club, including link for donations/memberships and volunteers.

2)Fundraising –evaluate other successful programs that are turnkey and established. How does this become incorporated into the website? Ideas for fundraising- GridIron apparel-keychains-etc., coffee/solar salt…. sales for grade/middle school age kids

3)Volunteers – most immediate needs at this time are for Website & Communications Chair and Event/Spirit Chair.

– Sandy Loeffler has given verbal commitment for Website & Communications and has strong technology background.
- Carmen Meyer – Volunteer coordination possibly. She may be over committed at this time. Sandy may be able to assist with this? Sandy will attend the next meeting.

Next steps :

~ Beth will begin steps to set up a 5013C, Michelle will email her info from Julie Eklund, individual who set this up for the BlueLine Club for hockey.

~ Beth will start working on logo development with graphic designer she knows very well. She may also look into potential pricing for items to ‘logo-ize’: keychains, phone covers, etc.

~ John will meet with individuals from Eastview and/or Lakeville to inquire about their websites, ease of development, is the package one that exists and can be tweaked/customized…? Fundraising capability embedded in the website will be target of his discussion.

~ Scott will look for simple, straight forward by-laws that apply to our club and bring them forward

~ Scott will investigate more about legal perspectives related to financial account and expenditures for non-profit, volunteer organizations

~ Bill will contact Terre Kemble, Booster Club to inform them that we ‘are coming’ forming and will be getting off the ground just as a heads up. We are separate such as Hockey’s BlueLine is for them.

~ Michelle will contact Deer Run to see if there are dates availability and if it reasonable to anticipate a potential GridIron Golf Outing/Fundraiser one day late summer. Is group open to this if so?

~ Scott will schedule next meeting via email within next week or 2.
