PERSON SPECIFICATION: Business Leader

Knowledge and experience

Essential:

a) A commitment to the development and sustainability of Noah’s Ark Children’s Venture (NACV)

b) A commitment to promoting NACV in accordance with its current ethos and purpose

c) Demonstrable success managing change, with strong strategic and operational planning experience

d) Proven experience of fundraising or other income generation success

e) Knowledge and experience of financial management and budgeting skills

f) Knowledge and experience of running a small office, including administration and IT skills and the use of management information systems.

g) A working knowledge of the legal and operational policies relating to residential centres

h) An understanding of and a commitment to NACV’s Equal Opportunities Codes of Practice

i) An understanding of and a commitment to NACV’s Confidentiality Policy

j) An understanding of and a commitment to NACV’s Health and Safety and Safeguarding Policies

k) An ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to work and prioritise workloads

l) An ability to work flexible hours

m) Good communication skills, both written and verbal

n) The ability to deal with young people with challenging behaviours and use appropriate behaviour strategies when required

o) Experience of working with, and reporting to a Board of Trustees or similar governance structure

Desirable:

a) Abilities, experience or willingness to learn necessary skills to deal and care for animals and livestock, e.g. chickens, guinea fowl, rabbits, pigs, horses

b) Previous experience as a business lead in the charity or not-for-profit sector

c) Knowledge of charity law

d) Ability to drive. NACV is based in a rural community not served by public transport.

b) Highly self- motivated, confident, proactive and innovative with the ability to embrace change and support NACV through this transition period

c) The ability to work as part of a small team as well as having the initiative to work independently

e) Flexible approach to work demands, including out of hours working and cover for the Centre Leader

Disclosure and Barring Service – This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check

Hours of Work- The hours of work reflect the nature of the Business Leaders role in this small charity and the post requires flexibility, including evening, overnight and weekend work on a regular basis, based on a 37 ½ hour week

Annual Leave – In addition to public holidays you are entitled to 26 working days (based on a 5 day week) during each complete leave year and at a rate pro rata for each incomplete leave year

Probationary Period – The appointment will be subject to a probationary period lasting six months, during which the notice period is four weeks on either side. Following completion of a successful probationary period, the notice period is two months on either side

References – All appointments will be confirmed only on receipt of satisfactory references. NACV will give prior notification of the intention to contact references
