Introducer Yentzu Chen, ACB
8:00 Janice Strachan and Div E Team check that the certificate, gift, and evaluations are in the Maryland Ballroom. The introducer makes sure there are timing cards and stopwatch in the room. Introducer discusses the timing with the speaker before the session.
8:30 SAA bang the gavel and call the session to order. Introduce LGET Scott Meyer
LGET provides a quick overview of the Film and its importance. He introduces Charlie and his wife. Yentzu Chen reads read Charlie’s introduction and lead the applause to start the movie.
Charlie Wilson, DTM, State College, PA
Charlie has been a Toastmaster for over 23 years and has reached the Distinguished Toastmaster level twice. He has been the District Governor of District 13 twice. He is currently a member of six Toastmaster clubs in both District 13 and District 38.
Charlie has competed in many speech contests, losing more often than winning. He has won the District Humorous Speech Contest five times and the District International Speech Contest twice. In 2008, he was a finalist in the World Championship of Public Speaking; hence, his appearance in the movie, SPEAK.
Toastmasters gave Charlie the courage to try acting and, since 1997, he has appeared in 82 productions. He has been Big Daddy in ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’, Sheridan Whiteside in ‘The Man Who Came to Dinner’, and, this past summer, Sir Lawrence Wargrave in ‘And Then There Were None’, where he got to kill seven or eight people.
He is delighted to be here at District 36 for his fourth screening of SPEAK and is looking forward to your comments about the film and his fifteen minutes of fame.

10:00 Movie ends. Yentzu welcomes Charlie to the lectern for questions and commentary
10:15 Yentzu shows Charlie “5 minutes to go” green card.
10:20 Yentzu comes to the lectern, leads the applause and present certificate of appreciation and a gift to speaker. Introducer reads the wording on the certificate and presents it to speaker. Introducer will ask everyone to fill out evaluation and put in basket at registration table.
Yentzu welcomes LGET to the lectern for announcements.
10:30 LGET thanks Charlie and the team and do the 50/50 Raffle drawings

I am pleased to announce, Mel Bayo, your Roast Master for this session – To Roast or Not to Roast.
The Roast master has the responsibility to design the overall program along with the panelists of roasters. Each roaster will be given a section of the roastee’s life to roast. I am pleased to introduce this educational session, “Failure is NOT an Option: It is Mandatory – How I Failed my Way to the Top… Almost!” presented by Liza Richards.
Since 2008, Liza Richards, an award-winning and internationally known speaker, has been a member of Toastmasters International, where she discovered her passion for public speaking. Today, she enjoys helping others in combating their fears, making those butterflies fly in formation. She brings to the podium years of failing, falling, and figuring out how to get back up and succeed.
As a Recruiter for Bechtel Power, Liza has the unique opportunity to practice both prepared presentations and impromptu speaking. By attending numerous career fairs, workshops, and conventions, she has learned how to capture the attention of her audiences… and keep it! Subsequently, just this summer, Liza earned the dubious title of World Champion Semifinalist in Toastmasters International Speech Contest, finishing in the top 86 in a field of nearly 35,000 contestants from around the globe.

I am pleased to introduce this educational session, “Beyond Your Body Speaks – The Silent Language of Toastmasters” presented by Beth Stinson.
Beth MacNeil Stinson joined Toastmasters in 2004. During that time, she was the district’s webmaster, doubling web traffic and training club webmasters to use FreeToastHost, which she continues to do today. Beth was recognized as Area Governor of the Year in 2008. She also served as the district’s PRO, creating the first Area Governor Tool Kit and initiating advertising in the Washington Post Express, which continues today. Most recently, Beth was the district’s Social Media Coordinator, creating and growing the D36 Facebook page and helping Toastmasters learn to use social media. Professionally, Beth spent 18 years in high education teaching faculty and students how to use technology and communicate more effectively. For the last 12 years, Beth has worked in the software industry where she analyzes human interactions with software to create positive user experiences. She managers and collaborates with international development teams using technology. She is a sought after speaker and trainer at work and in Toastmasters.

I am pleased to introduce this educational session, “Effective Communications through Accent Reduction and Modification” presented by Dottie Li.
Dottie Li is Managing Director of TransPacific Communications. Ms. Li designs and provides media training and cross-cultural communication training for both foreign-born professionals in the U.S. and Americans working with Asia issues. Ms. Li was born and raised in China. Her background includes five years as a producer at C-SPAN. She later became a corporate spokesperson, public relations executive, and communications chief for several large non-profit organizations. From 1997 to 2001, she handled White House media advance assignments, traveling domestically and overseas for the president, the first lady and the vice president. Ms. Li is also the Voice and Voice Coach of Rosetta Stone’s Mandarin products. She is very active in the Asian American community and has conducted numerous seminars, workshops and presentations. She is a sought-after speaker and trainer at various federal agencies. Ms. Li is appointed by Gov. O’Malley as a Commissioner of the Asian American Affairs Commission. She is also editor-in-chief of Asian Fortune, the prominent Asian American publication in the D.C. metro area
