PAYROLL PRACTITIONER II

JOB FUNCTION:
Perform all tasks necessary to ensure the accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payrolls, system maintenance and tax compliance. Provide support to internal and external customers for payroll processing, inquires, assistance and data verification with an emphasis on providing excellent customer service in an accurate, professional and timely manner. This position is responsible for data entry, maintenance, payroll processing, report and analysis of employee data using ADP’s PayForce system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Input, process and audit employee information such as personal data, compensation changes and status changes.
- Process all payrolls accurately and timely. Reconcile, validate and balance payroll reports prior to payroll transmission, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data, following defined payroll processing documentation; resolving discrepancies.
- Understand proper taxation, both government taxation and benefit taxation.
- Process garnishment calculations andensure compliance with orders.
- Review electronic time clock entries (eTime software) and review the downloaded information for completeness and accuracy. Contacting Manager as needed for missing entries.
- Handle incoming payroll related questions from employees and agencies.
- Process and distribute manual checks and/or pay cards as needed.
- System testing and project management as needed.
- Process and submit Union Reports as required.
- Update (add, change or inactive) general ledger codes in eTime and Teletime systems as needed.
- Complete written wage verifications for outside agencies completely, accurately and within the time frame requested.
- Process calls and emails from employees, resolve issues or direct to appropriate department/area.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of employee information.
- Compile financial, tax and payroll reports for both internal and external purposes.
- Interact with federal and state agencies on issues pertaining to employee compensation, deductions and taxes.
- Ensure process documentation is updated and complete.
- Assist and support Payroll Manager and team as needed.

- Complies with all IOD Policies, specifically, attendance and punctuality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Consideration for the Payroll Practitioner II role requires all of the following:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school or one or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll and tax knowledge.
- Solid understanding and experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), required.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy a must.
- Knowledge of ADP Software is a plus.
- Able to maintain confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, required.
- Must be ambitious, accountable, flexible and mature; must conduct themselves professionally at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sitting, talking, hearing, and vision are required over 90% of the time, while walking is required about 15% of the time. Feeling is required 90% of the time, and reaching is required about 50% of the time. Bending, twisting, and climbing are required less than 10% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) is required about 10% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 40 pounds) are required less than 5% of the time.
WORKING CONDITIONS WHILE PERFORMING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Over 95% of the time is spent indoors, with protection from weather conditions. Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable noise levels is present only in unusual situations.
