Scholarship Information, Application & Checklist
Fall 2013 & Spring 2014
Scholarship funding may be available to students who have been admitted to or are currently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University in one of the business programs. College of Business Scholarships will be awarded in fall 2013 and/or spring 2014.
Scholarships must be used to support enrollment at Prairie View A&M University. Scholarship funds will not be used as an “overpayment.” Information contained in the application must be accurate and may be subject to verification by the College of Business Scholarship Committee.
Applications will be accepted from students who have already been accepted to or are currently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University and who meet the criteria outlined in the scholarship application package. The Scholarship Committee will evaluate applications from prospective recipients for scholarships based on the following information:

· Essays (if applicable), community service, preferred affiliations financial need and test scores where indicated.

Applicants will be contacted via e-mail about the status of their application by
Friday, April 5, 2013.
Scholarship applications must be received, not postmarked by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the deadline.
Absolutely No Exceptions, No Excuses
Deadline: Friday, March 8, 2013
Please remember the following:
□ Submit the application and all materials in a sealed envelope. Do not submit the instructions, criteria or deadline information as part of your packet.
□ Please type or legibly print your information on the application in blue or black ink. Do not
leave any of the contact information blank.
□ Fill out both pages of the application (undergraduate and/or graduate) and sign the application.
□ If you are currently an undergraduate student (graduating senior) and seeking funds for one of the graduate programs, please complete the PVAMU College of Business Graduate Student Scholarship Application.
□ Remember to submit a copy of your transcript.
Current Students - a recent copy of your transcript printed from Panther Tracks is acceptable
New & Transfer Students – a copy of your transcript is acceptable
□ If you are applying for the Bob Roberts and/or Lucy Boone Scholarship, you will also need to submit an essay and any additional materials required.
□ A written referral from a member of Eta Phi Beta Sorority is required if applying for this scholarship.
□ Out-of-State Students should answer “No” to the question “Are you a Resident of Texas?” and indicate their state of residency in order to be considered for an out-of-state fee waiver.
□ International Students should answer “No” to the question “Are you a Resident of Texas?” and indicate their country of residency in order to be considered for an out-of-state fee waiver.

Corporate and Organization Scholarships for College of Business Students
Eta Phi Beta Sorority Scholarship
Must be a mother needing a financial assistance.
A written referral from a member of Eta Phi Beta Sorority is required.
Exxon-Mobil (Transfer Students)
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application
Must be a transfer student with a minimum of 30 semester hours.
Ford EEOC Scholarship Endowment – (Undergraduate, Graduate)
Minimum GPA of 2.75 at the time of application
General Motors Scholarship (High School, Transfer, Undergraduate, Graduate)
Minimum GPA of 3.0 (current and cumulative) at the time of application
Illinois Tool Works Scholarship Endowment - Current Students, Undergraduates

Available for Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing);
Must show evidence of outstanding leadership, business career motivation and exhibit excellent moral character;
Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 at the time of application
Must have a minimum of 30 semester hours.
Lucy Sterling Boone Memorial Scholarship Endowment - Undergraduate Incoming Freshmen, Transfer Students,
A separate application is attached. Please complete both applications to be considered for this scholarship.
Available for Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing);
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of application
Must submit a completed essay on a topic assigned by the Scholarship Committee and
Must show evidence of community service.
Hattie, Jack & Cora Teel Garrett Scholarship – Accounting Majors, Undergraduate
Minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of application
Must be an accounting major at the time of application
Must be classified as a junior (60 – 89 earned hours) at the time of application
Mary Lee Hodge Scholarship Endowment – Current Students, Undergraduates, Graduates
Available for Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing); MBA and MSA
Minimum GPA of 3.25 at the time of application
Must be enrolled full time (12 SCH for undergraduate students or 6 SCH for graduate students) at the PVAMU Northwest Houston Center Campus or
PVAMU Business Affairs employee who meet the above-listed criteria attending classes on the main campus.
Bob Roberts Memorial Scholarship Endowment - Current Students, Undergraduates
A separate application is attached. Please complete both applications to be considered for this scholarship.
Must be a full-time undergraduate student majoring in business (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing);
Applicant must have at least one full year of school remaining;
Applicant must have a minimum GPA of at least 2.8;
Must submit two (2) letters of recommendation on official letterhead from a business school administrator (instructor, dean, advisor);
Applicant must supply a recent photograph;
Must submit a completed essay on a topic assigned by the Scholarship Committee.
Joseph A. Scott, Jr. Scholarship Endowment - Current Students, Undergraduates
Available for Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing);
Applicant must be from the Greater San Antonio metropolitan area;
Minimum GPA of 2.8 and
Must show evidence of community service.
Esther Johnson Tyler Memorial Scholarship Endowment - Current Students, Undergraduates
Available for Business Majors (Accounting, Finance, MISY, Management & Marketing);
Must show evidence of outstanding leadership, business career motivation and exhibit excellent moral character;
Minimum GPA of 2.5 at the time of application
Must have a minimum of 30 semester hours.
College of Business General Scholarship Criteria*
New (Incoming) College of Business (COB) Students
A. Entering (First-Time) Freshmen
1. SAT Score of 1290 (new SAT) 890 (SAT prior to 2006) or higher (ACT of 18 or higher)
2. High School GPA of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale
B. Transfer Students
1. GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
C. Graduate Students
1. Admission to the COB Graduate Program
2.Undergraduate GPA of 3.25 or higher
Continuing/Returning Undergraduate and Graduate College of Business Students
A. Undergraduate Students
1. GPA of 3.0 or higher.
2. Must have completed (fifteen) 15 or more semester credit hours at the time of application (Transfer students must have completed at least 15 semester credit hours at PVAMU)
3. Must be exempt or have passed all parts of the Texas Success Initiative exams (TASP, THEA (Texas Higher Education Assessment).
B. Undergraduate Currently Receiving COB Scholarship
1. Must be currently enrolled full-time in the COB
2. Must have completed 24 semester credit hours during the year (fall & spring semesters) of award
C. Graduate Student
1. Unconditional Admission to the COB Graduate Program
2. GPA of 3.25 or higher
3. Must have completed six (6) or more semester credit hours at the time of application
D. Graduate Student Currently Receiving COB Scholarship
1. Must be currently enrolled in the COB Graduate Program with a minimum of six (6) semester credit hours (SCH)
2. Must have completed 12 semester credit hours during the year (fall & spring semesters) of award.
* Note: Cumulative GPA, extracurricular activities, community service and work experience may be used in the scholarship selection process. Additional information requested in the application is requested to secure all information which may be required to screen applicants for special scholarships according to College of Business or donor criteria.
