DESCRIPTION OF LEVEL 1 OFFICIALS TRAINING PROGRAM
U.S. Lacrosse, Inc. has developed and is implementing a Level 1 Officials Training Program designed to train boys high school and youth lacrosse officials. Craig Brown is the local U.S. Lacrosse Youth Officiating Committee representative in Western Massachusetts. Please note that all individuals who previously achieved Level 1 Official status are required to participate in the Training Program and complete the Training Registration Form as a condition to officiating in 2013 but are not required to pay the training fee. The requirements applicable to participation in the Level 1 Training Program are as follows:
1. Each Trainee must be a member of U.S. Lacrosse as an official. The attached Training Registration Form will not be accepted unless it includes the Trainee’s U.S. Lacrosse Membership Number. Individuals who are not members of U.S. Lacrosse and are interested in participating in training can become members of U.S. Lacrosse by registering electronically on line at www.uslacrosse.org. You will receive a Membership Number shortly following the completion of registration on line. If you are already a member of U.S. Lacrosse as an official, simply include your Membership Number in the Training Registration Form. Each Trainee that submits a properly completed Training Registration Form and the training fee of $35.00 that is described below will receive the Officials Training Manual.
2. Each first time Trainee is required to pay a training fee of $35.00, which includes the cost of an Officials Training Manual. The Officials Training Manual will be provided to each Trainee that submits a completed Training Registration Form as described above.
3. Each Trainee is required to attend classroom training sessions that cover rules and mechanics. The training program will be conducted as follows:
Monday evenings, February 11, February 25, March 4 and March 11, 2013. Training Sessions will run from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Each Training Session will be in the Theater at the Basketball Hall of Fame, 1000 Hall of Fame Avenue, Springfield, Massachusetts.
All trainees are required to attend all of these Classroom Sessions.
4. Following the completion of classroom training, each Trainee will be required to complete and pass the Level 1 Test as a condition to achieving Level 1 Official status.
5. Each individual that completes the training program and achieves Level 1 Official status shall receive a schedule of youth lacrosse games involving Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse League teams. Each individual that achieves Level 1 Official status that is sponsored by a Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse League Program will have as such individual’s primary responsibility officiating such Program’s home games. Officials will not be precluded from officiating games conducted by other Programs, subject to the priority rights of the Program that sponsors the official.
6. If you are interested in participating in the training program, please complete the attached Training Registration Form and return it to Craig Brown together with your Registration Fee in the amount of $35.00 payable to the order of “Craig Brown, YOC Representative” by February 9, 2013. If you previously completed this training you must nevertheless complete and return to Craig Brown a Training Registration Form, but you are not required to pay the Training Fee. Training Registration Forms will not be accepted after February 9, 2013. Completed Training Registration Forms and the Training Fee must be returned as follows:
