- after listening and singing the lyrics of the song, T. asks children questions about the winter season and the soon to come event, Christmas
Activity 3 Interaction: T - S; S - T Timing: 15’
Aim 2: to identify Christmas symbols and their meanings
Aim 3: to consolidate the names of the Christmas decorations and space prepositions on, in, under
- T. shows pupils pictures of: a snow-flake, a bell, a candle, an angel, a star, a bauble, candies, stockings
- Pupils recognize the images and write down the names, using different coloured pencils
- T. asks pupils to position each decoration in different positions around the classroom: Place the angel on the window sill. Place the candle in the cupboard. Put the bauble under your desks. Place the candies in your pocket. Put the bell on the floor. Hold the snow-flake in your hand. Put the star under my desk.
- T. explains to the pupils that all those decorations are misplaced and they should think and look for a better place for them.
- T. asks pupils to close their eyes while T. uncovers a Christmas tree, without any decorations.

Complete the following forms of the verbs:
I will sing. I will learn.
You……… You………
He/She……… He/She………
We ………We ………
You……… You………
They………They………
Find the hidden word:
NMBFHSTARMNKL NBTSANGELNHF
Arrange the words to make up the sentence:
carols, sing, Christmas, will, I, some
tree, Christmas, decorate, will, we
Look for the stockings around the classroom! (surprise request written on the back of the simple bauble; pupils to find the candies inside Father Christmas stockings)
- After each correct answer, pupils have to go to the picture of the Christmas tree and attach the decoration on it
Being a SEN class, one of the pupils have to have a different, easier to fulfil task: she will cut some “presents” off a handout/working sheet and stick them on Father Christmas stockings.

Assessment: T. appreciates the active pupils and gives advice to the less active ones. As an extra bonus for their behaviour, T. gives each child a candy from Father Christmas/St. Nicholas stockings. T also explains to the pupils that the Romanian also have St. Nicholas (whose day we celebrate today) as a gift bearer and really loved by children and grownups.
