CLASS TITLE:EDP QUALITY CONTROL/SCHEDULING SPECIALIST - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work establishing, modifying and controlling computer schedules and computer runs in an automated production system data processing environment; or work utilizing automated information retrieval and manipulation languages and programs as part of an EDP production and quality control environment for the purpose of manipulating files to produce reports and reconstruct and establish files.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Establishes schedules for computer runs utilizing automated production software.
  • Maintains production records and event logs.
  • Initiates and monitors the running of computer jobs through the use of automated production software.
  • Controls the correction and restart of computer jobs through the use of automated production software.
  • Verifies the accuracy of computer output prior to distribution to users.
  • Performs liaison between production control, systems and programming, operations, data entry and/or users with respect to schedules, input and output and related production problems and activities.
  • Maintains libraries of system documentation.
  • Controls and maintains files and system job control language libraries.
  • Directs and assigns work to lower level EDP production personnel.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic data processing terminology, procedures and workflow.
  • Knowledge of job control languages.
  • Knowledge of the functions and procedures for data processing quality control.
  • Ability to interpret systems codes when computer jobs abort and to determine what steps to take in order to solve the problem.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to assess data processing work quality.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
