A month ago, the Shanghai Post newspaper, the official newspaper of the Shanghai World Expo 2010, published a feature spread on the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Pavilion. Cheryl Dixon and I were interviewed for that feature.

At the same time, they launched a competition to test the knowledge of their readers about the Caribbean, the Caribbean Development Bank and CARICOM.

The newspaper’s readers were quizzed on basic facts that could be researched on-line. It seems that more people in Shanghai now know more about the Caribbean.

According to the Post, 35,000 persons visited the CARICOM Pavilion on the launch of the competition. More than 1,000 persons participated in the quiz competition, and about 600 answered the questions correctly.

The lucky winners were rewarded with CDB commemorative coins specially commissioned for the Expo, CARICOM book markers and pins.

These items were presented to Shanghai Post reporter, Laura Jiane, for delivery to the prize winners.
