Re.: A strong Europe of Results: ‘Out and in the Cave’ (Politeia) .
Through the international conference ‘The Sound of Europe’, I committed myself to bring European values and affairs more in question. In doing so, I fixed my eyes from 2006 also towards the process of the Lisbon Treaty, that recently entered into force and by which a new momentum appeared as we have never seen before in European history. The period of introspection and reflection has left for the greater part and the real doing came in for turn: acting as global player from now on.
Global governance involves an ideology with universal pretensions, a strong economy, a common solid foreign policy and should be able to adopt sometimes more rigorous actions if necessary.
For the time being, working on economy, fostering a Europe of rights and freedoms, CFSP (including EEAS) and implementing the Lisbon Treaty is on top of the agenda.
Europe has already significant metaphysical thoughts and attributes from cultural and humanistic commitment to democracy, freedoms, human rights, peace and tolerance and also percieves diversity and opposite policies and interests, for the greater part caused by presence of nationalistic roots and attitudes and/or various communities.
With Europe, people can know themselves allied with an identity on larger scale. According to the Nexus Institute, provisions for the soul, investment in education and cultivation, spiritual and intellectual courage and wisdom and creating beauty form part of this European ideal of civilization.
Socrates said to Glaucon: ‘the less keen the would-be rulers of a community are to rule, the better and less divided the administration of that community is bound to be, but where the rulers feel the opposite, the administration is bound to be the opposite’.
Recently a fivefold team has been formed, equipped with general and personal aristocratic leadership qualities: natural drive and inspiration, presence of holistic vision, having ability to enter into alliances and with the art to combine. The institutions represent the citizens (Europarliament), boost and give main directions (European Council, that justify itself through meeting-reports to the Europarliament), perform the duty of an engine by an executive committee (the European Commission), execute Foreign Affairs and Security Policy
(High Representative) and are responsible for the functioning of the council of the EU (rotating presidencies, from 1-01-2010 till 31-12-2012 SHB, Poland, Denmark, Cyprus).
Institutions and fields are mapped. In letter as well as in spirit, duties are drafted and embodied and new authority is in a phase of more balance. Mutual relationships and framework agreements on relations (such as between the EC and the EP) are of help. But when there is talk of ‘one voice’?
The new European External Action Service develops and execute foreign policy. In order to achieve the goal to further the union’s interest, the art of conducting relationships for gain without conflict will be performed and is full mutual cooperation with the diplomatic services of the member states indispensable.
Safeguarding the independence, security and integrity is of prime importance, as preserving the widest possible freedom of action for the union and its member states is.
In other areas more progress in agreements can be achieved in order to hold and to increase the existing prosperity and welfare, not only by arranging a smooth functioning internal market without barriers but also by research and development. For this, more political will is necessary, which will become certainly important if thinking of an EU-chair at international institutions, such as the UN.
Yours sincerely,
