THIRD CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS:
Reconciling the Contradictions of Wildlife Management in southern Africa
This is our third call to wildlife managers, researchers and decision makers that are interested in presenting papers or posters related to the main theme. Apart from the existing suggested thematic sessions we have three additional suggested sessions. Although each of the three sessions will have recruited presenters from the main nominator, these sessions will also be open for submission of additional abstracts.
Previously mentioned thematic sessions:
1) Conflicts around mesocarnivores
2) Biodiversity consequences of game ranch practices
3) Fences and the management of terrestrial wildlife species
4) Views on renewable energy
5) Emerging wildlife management information for all stakeholders
ADDITIONAL SESSIONS WITH OPEN SLOTS FOR TALKS ARE:
6) Biodiversity for profit (Proposed by Lizanne Nel, SA Hunters and Game Conservation Association)
7) Red List Symposium (Proposed by Matt Child, Endangered Wildlife Trust)
8) Adaptive management: a promising but elusive concept (Proposed by Christo Fabricius, Bianca Currie, Dirk Roux, Sustainability Research Unit, NMMU – see attached rationale for more information)
In addition, wildlife scientists and students may also submit non-thematic papers for more general sessions.

DISPLAYS:
This year we are offering the opportunity for displaying your products/services at the event. Please contact Craig Tambling or Elma Marais to find out about the costs and available space.
SPONSORSHIPS:
Attending a scientific conference is a costly undertaking. The event was organized with the viewpoint of offering it at the lowest possible registration rates and students in particular are paying a rate that will be much lower than the actual costs. Without sponsorship to partially cover some of the costs of venue hire and catering, the lower fees would not be possible. With the above in mind we, the organisers, would be honoured if you would accept our invitation to be an integral part of the Southern African Wildlife Management Symposium. We will provide opportunities for sponsorship that will enhance your visibility in the scientific and wildlife management community. (see guidelines on the symposium website)
Our current list of sponsors: Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (Main sponsor), Centre for African Conservation Ecology (NMMU), SANParks and Buff.
