STUDENT LED CONFERENCES NOVEMBER 7TH& 8TH

Thank you to all parents and scholars that participated in the Fall SLC’s! We are currently at a ~96% of completed conferences. We hope you enjoyed your opportunity to meet your scholar’s teacher and see how your child has progressed. You may email or call your child’s teacher as soon as you have a concern. You do not need to wait for Scholar-Led Conferences to speak with your child’s teacher.

Attendance News

by Dee Bergstrom, School Counselor

Our challenge to our scholars is to “stay on green” every month this school year. This means that a scholar can miss only one day of school in a month for a total of nine days in a school year. Every month we acknowledge in our Recognition Assembly those students that have Perfect Attendance, meaning that the scholar has been at school every day all day. They have not had early release, tardy or a sick day (excused or unexcused) anytime during the month. I am thrilled to report that 185 of our 486 Dolphins have achieved Perfect Attendance for the month of October. Additionally, 118 of our 486 Dolphins have had Good Attendance, meaning that they had up to one day not at school for the month of October. This means that a total of 62% of our scholars stayed on green in October. In September, our scholars were at 71% staying on green. Our challenge for the month of November is to keep our percentage at or above 62% of our students at school missing one or less days of school. With cold and flu season coming, please encourage your scholar(s) to get enough sleep, wash hands frequently and drink plenty of water. If there are circumstances that make it difficult for your child to come to school every day, please let myself or Mrs. Mendoza, Family Liaison, know so that we can support your child’s good attendance.

A few messages from the Lake Dolloff Office:

Attendance:

Our goal this year is to keep from disrupting class time to as little as possible. We ask that your child to please be on time, in the gym by 9:10. In the gym, students/classes maybe acknowledged for their various accomplishments or significate moments. This forum isan opportunity to inform classes of upcoming activities. Please call the office at 253-945-2800 to report your student’s tardy or absence as soon as possible to avoid the automated calls going out or have our Secretary, Mrs. Palafox call to verify all is okay with your child.

Picking up student earlier than school release time

If you would like to pick up your child before the end of the school day, please come to the office to sign your student out. We will call them to be released from class at the time of your arrival. We would like to lessen the time taking away from learning. Please arrive early enough to allow us a few more minutes so that we can locate the class/student (recess, music, lunchroom, library or PE) to sign your scholar out for the day.

Dismissal times

The office is busy through-out the school day, however in the morning and at dismissal time it can be hectic. When changing your child’s going home arrangements, be sure tocontact the school office no later than 3:00 pm. This way we can ensure the message gets to your child and child’s teacher in a timely manner.

Lost and Found

Our lost and found continually builds up with coats, hats, lunch boxes etc. Please remember to write your child’s name on their items. We will be at the end of the month donating items to the local clothing bank.

Safety-Parking Lot

If you are transporting your child to school, we ask that you:

  • After entering the parking lot area, keep to the right.
  • The right lane is for student drop off.
  • The left lane is for passing. (We are having vehicles preventing the safe traffic flow)
  • To drop off your child please pull forward, stop, and have your child exit the car on the passenger side.

No parking is allowed in this area, if you wish to walk your child to class, you must park on 308th street.

Student Pick-Up:

  • If your child is not waiting for you in the upper lot at dismissal time, we ask that you exit the parking lot and drive around again so that you are not holding up traffic.

Your support and patience is greatly appreciated in the interest of student safety. Remember to drive slowly while in the parking lot area; you never know when or where a child might appear.

If you have any concerns or questions with the above content, please call us in the office Mrs. Hoover, Mrs. Palafox or Mrs. Patrick and we will do our best to assist you. Thank you.
