You will research and construct a PowerPoint presentation detailing everything one needs to know about one of the following tourism professions. Your research may be entirely internet based but you must state your sources. You may wish to find a person in the particular profession and ask a few questions.

Slide 6: How does one become a (insert job)? Certification/Training/Education
Slide 7: What are some challenges in the Career?
Slide 8: What are the opportunities for employment in Nova Scotia? Canada? Internationally?

You will have the next two days in class to complete this project with your assigned partner. The finished powerpoints will be presented to the class on Thursday March 29th and Friday March 30th.

Assessment:
2.1 Demonstrate the knowledge, skills and attitudes to enter, stay in and progress in the industry.
ü Slides are all present.
ü All questions are answered.
ü Demonstrates a deep understanding of the topic through both the presentation and further discussion or clarifying comments throughout.
ü Makes presentation decisions to make their product stand out above the rest (i.e. music, pictures, transitions, videos, etc.)
2.2 Demonstrate the qualities and behaviours that exhibit professionalism.
ü Product is presented on time.
ü Presentation is complete.
ü Final product is relatively free from grammatical errors
ü Final product demonstrates that editing was completed…no tech glitches, etc.
2.3 Communicate effective in workplace settings.
ü This is a smooth, rehearsed presentation.
ü Presenters clearly use the strategies of effective powerpoints (article from class).
2.6 Access tourism resources
ü Direction is provided as to where to acquire certification or job opportunities in this field.
ü A bibliography is included.
ü APA format is consistently used.
ü A variety (minimum of 5) of sources are used.
2.8 Investigate an occupation within the Industry through research.
ü An in depth study of the occupation is clear: all 7 questions are clearly answered.
