About the 2018-2019JAMES Sanders Gallery Fellowship

Purpose: A one-year (two-semester) Fellowship to support one or more students interested in exhibition design, publicity, curation, art collection and art gallery management through supervised applied training at the University Art Collection at the USI campus and the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art, located in historic New Harmony, Indiana. From one up to three Fellowships may be awarded each academic year.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Student must be majoring in art.
- Student must be of junior status or above at time of Fellowship.
- Student must be able to complete the Fellowship prior to graduation.
- Student must have had a minimum of the two art history survey courses.
Fellowship Funding:
- Funding will be provided for a total of 6 credit hours of USI tuition (2017-2018(Indiana resident tuition is $246.66 per credit hour; $601.87 non-resident tuition per credit hour; the 2018-2019 tuition is not yet available).
- A stipend will be provided for round-trip transportation to New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art during the semester of training there.
Fellowship Requirements:
- Student will enroll in Art 399 Special Topics– Art GalleryFellowship for 6 credit hours. The student may take all 6 credit hours in one semester or divide the Fellowship credit hours and activity hours across two consecutive semesters, (could include a summer session), based on 3 credit hours and 150 activity hours each semester.
- Student will train at the USI Art Collection/McCutchan Art Center/Pace Galleries one semester and the New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art for one semester, with 3 credits earned at each location.
- Student will complete a minimum of 300 activity hours for the Fellowship (total of 300 hours, 150/semester.)
- Student will complete all assignments, projects, and other activities assigned by the supervising faculty member and the on-site art professional supervisors.

NOTE: Interviews will be required of the top candidates in the selection process.
