  • Mitch Debnam, Dutch & Michael Nickerson, Sarah Parker and Cassie Plummer – who attended National Out-of-State Trip interviews on 2/4 and 2/7. They each had 3 interviews based on the 3 sections of the 4-H resume – Citizenship, Leadership and Life Skills.
  • To the 16 youth who attended the Triple Shots shotgun training for new members on 2/19. Welcome new members & 4-H’ers adding a new club:

  • 4-H Achievement Banquet Winners! Check out the insert with all 4-H awardees. If you are missing awards, they will be distributed

through your 4-H club. Check with your club leader 1st, if they do not have it, contact the 4-H Office. Over 170 people attended the banquet!

  • Anna Armstrong, Shirl Baker, Zakary Kendall, Malorie Martinez, Brad Moore, Brenda Vujanic, Mali Vijanic, Jennifer Wagenmann and Robert Wagenmann – who attended and completed UME 4-H Volunteer training. Thank you for taking the time to become volunteers and serve our 4-H youth!
  • Kent Public Speaking, Fri. March 24! Registration deadline is Monday March 20th! Since just completing record books and achievement, 4-H’ers who did not earn project completion pins, were most often missing the Public Speaking requirement. Here is your chance to get your public speaking requirement! Choose one of these speech types: Prepared, Radio Spot, Extemporaneous, and Interpretation. Kent can send up to 3 qualified participants in each type of speech and age group to the regional contest, March 31 and champions to the State Contest. See the insert included in this newsletter and sign up today!!!!
  • Visual Presentation “How To” Workshop and County Contest – There are 2 types of VP’s – Illustrated Talks and Demonstrations. Learn what each is, how to do it and practice your own at the VP How To on April 11th. The contest is Friday April 28th. Another great way to complete your public speaking requirement!

  • Jr. Leadership Council (JLC), Tuesday March 21, 7:00 pm – JLC is the youth leadership development program at the county level and all youth interested, are welcome to attend. All club vice-presidents are automatic members. 3/21 meeting includes Cover design judging, an AGNR survey, leadership & inclusion, fun snacks, and more!

Kent Clover Kids Program!The monthly program for Clover Age youth ages 5-7 years 10 sessionsremaining 2017, 1 per month. A MD 4-H Foundation grant is helping fund the event! Here is the upcoming schedule of sessions:

All workshops will be hands on& snacks will be provided. Participants must register for each session so there will be enough supplies.

2017 MD 4-H Engineering Camp, April 21-23, 2017 - Get ready for the 2017 MD 4-H Engineering Camp at the Rocks 4-H Camp, Harford Co.! Youth ages 12–18 (as of Jan. 1, `17) and adult volunteers will get hands on introduction to 4-H engineering projects, participate in team engineering challenges, develop teamwork skills, and form friendships with youth from across MD. Engineering projects include: Large tractor operation, lawn tractor, geospatial, welding, and marine engineering. Cost for Engineering camp is: $135.00 for 4-H members/$155.00 for Non 4-H membersif received before April 1, 2017; $170.00 for all registrations received after April 1, 2017, $ 60.00 for all adult volunteers (must be UME approved volunteers). Kent 4-H is offering a $100 scholarship to any active Kent 4-H’er interested in attending. Registration and early-bird payment due by March 28th to Kent Office. 2017 MD 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Training, April 21-23, `17 – Training for all new adults interested in becoming a 4-H Shooting Sports instructor in any of the 4-H shooting disciplines. You must be a UME 4-H volunteer before attending training. Registration is due by March 31st so must be completed and to the Kent 4-H Office by Tuesday March 28th. A scholarship for Kent volunteers is available, contact the 4-H Office.
