ABF will be used as the administrator (back-office manager) for the Endowment’s funds per the Endowment Administration Agreement with ABF. The Board will also explore recommendations from members of the Organization, as well as outside requests, concerning the distribution of income earned within the Endowment funds. Distributions of income may be made based upon the guidelines of each fund. It is the responsibility of the Board to insure that distributions from gifts are made in accordance with gift guidelines.

The Board will recommend for Organization approval at a regular or specially called business session any suggested amounts for specific distributionsof income that exceed $5,000 per distribution. Such recommendations shall be approved by an affirmative majority vote of those members present and voting in favor of such recommendation. If the Organization refuses to affirm the recommendations, then the requests will be referred back to the Board for further study and future recommendations will be brought back to the Organization if deemed appropriate. Specific directions concerning the approved distributions shall be communicated in writing to ABF (or other administrator).
- The Board will also be responsible for promoting the Endowment to the Organization membership. Appropriate measures may be taken to publicize, educate, and otherwise remind the membership of the Endowment’s availability both for current gifts and gifts at death through wills, trusts, or beneficiary designations. The Board will determine the appropriateness of recognition, if any, of various gifts to the Endowment.
- The principal of any fundof the Endowment will be kept in perpetuity. (Note: The Organization may want to include a qualification like this: The Organization may choose to spend part or all of the principal of such Endowment for the designated purposes based upon a recommendation of the Boardand the Organization by a 90% affirmative vote of those present and voting at a regular called business meeting, unless such action would be in violation of an individual fund’s guidelines. Before such a vote to use principal from the Endowment, church members shall be told in writing that the original purpose of the Endowment was to use the income only and not invade the principal so that future generations will be blessed.) (Note: The Organization may want to include a stipulation like this: Additionally, upon recommendation of the Board and the Organization by a 90% affirmative vote of those present and voting, may choose to transfer the corpus and accumulated income from ABF to another trust agency, provided that agency is a bank trust department with at least $100 million in assets under management.) The exceptions to this paragraph are accounts established directly with ABF by donors for the benefit of the Organization’s ministries.
- These Guidelines may be amended or changed only by recommendation of the Board and the Organization trustees and affirmed by 90% vote of those church members present and voting at any regularly scheduled business meeting of the Organization. However, no change shall be allowed which would change the perpetual nature of the Endowment or the designated purposes of the individual Funds. If the designated purpose of an individual Fund no longer exists , then the Board will use the income in a ministry most similar to the original purposes. (Note: The organization may wish to establish a different affirmation percent.)
- If the Organization should cease to exist and there is no successor organization, the fund shall become the property of ABF for ongoing management to benefit ministries that are similar to and in keeping with the nature of the Organization and its past charitable distributions.
