Dear Parents and Students,

We would like to welcome you to Burns Middle School! We are excited about the upcoming school year and would like to do everything possible to give our incoming sixth graders a positive start at middle school.

We will be hosting a JUMPSTART ORIENTATION PROGRAM for all our new 6th grade students and parents on THURSDAY, AUGUST 7 from 8:00 a.m. till 12:00. It will be an opportunity for them to:

Meet their teachers, guidance counselors, & principals

Receive their class schedule, supply list, & agenda book

Be assigned locker number & lock

Pay school fees ($25.00) + exploratory class fees

Turn in medical records (6th grade physical & immunization records)

Deposit money in their lunchroom account for the

breakfast and lunch programs.

Walk through their schedule and meet their teachers.

After the opening session, parents will attend an informational meeting while students participate in get-acquainted activities with their teachers and classmates. At this time teachers will discuss goals and expectations for the school year. Parents and students will rejoin to walk through the child’s schedule and meet their 6th grade teachers. We encourage all 6th grade parents to attend with their child.

We want your child to be happy and successful at Burns Middle School. We invite you to join us in making this year and every year at Burns Middle happy, fun, and educational. Please complete the enclosed registration form for your child to attend 6th grade orientation and return to Burns Middle School by June 30. If you have any questions, please call 852-7400 or 929-9445 and ask for Yvonne Austin, our ESS coordinator.
