I would like to introduce you to the Woodbridge Youth Football League (WYFL). The WYFL is a non-profit 501 C (3) Virginia Corporation, staffed by volunteers. We have been in existence for over 8 years. The WYFL is committed to developing the children in this community with the teamwork and discipline involved in the sports of football and cheerleading. Our players range in age from 7 to 16, and come from all walks of life. Last year we had over 150 children on the playing field and because of aggressive recruiting and previous years’ success; we expect that number to increase this year.
Remember we are a non-profit organization and football is an expensive sport. The cost per child to participate in the league is approximately $350. Our registration is $115 only partially covers the expense. We attempt to provide registration assistance for families in need. It is our goal that to keep participation affordable. There are additional costs including uniforms, equipment replacement, county fees for playing fields and referees. It is our goal to see that no child with the desire to play football or to become a cheerleader is prevented from participating because of financial concerns. With your help we can achieve our goal and ensure that every child has an opportunity to play. Throughout the year, we conduct fundraising events to offset the high costs of providing a fun and safe program for our kids. However, because of growing participation, we don’t always meet our monetary goals. With your help, our program will be able to continue to provide the proper environment and instruction for our youth.
