INSTITUTE ADVANCED MOTORCYCLISTS – Thanks to IAM for this information
The IAM have been running a winter driving campaign. www.drivingadvice.org.uk<http://www.drivingadvice.org.uk They have formed a partnership with Jet fuel stations, who are providing winter driving advice booklets and ice scrapers, dual branded with the IAM. We provided the advice for these booklets. We are also exploring similar partnerships with Kia and Halfords. Poll answers: 458 people have answered the pop up survey 'After visiting this site, will you change any aspect of your driving?' 78.6% have said they would. That's 360 safer drivers (at least) out there. 98 people have entered the competition to win a Skill for Life or Momentum course.
These positive results are in spite of the fact that the winter so far has been fairly mild.

My reason for contacting you is my wife and myself organise the Skellingthorpe Gala every year which normally attracts many bikes and cars, some old some new.
I wonder if the MISSING LINCS would be able to attend as it would be good to see Triumphs their in force.

Basic camping facilities are available for the Saturday night if you fancy a night down at "the local" with us, and then a full English in the community centre on the Sunday morning.

Thank you for your email relating to the draft Regulation on the approval and market surveillance to two- or three-wheel vehicles and quadricycles. The Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) chaired by my Conservative colleague Malcolm Harbour, leads on this work in the European Parliament. He has provided me with the following statement:
STATEMENT BEGINS The Committee voted on the Parliament's draft Amendments on this file on Monday 5th December. This allowed a large number of the non-controversial elements to be settled, enabling the Committee to now focus its work on the more politically contentious aspects of the proposals. There are some MEP proposals on which the Chair of the IMCO committee, Malcolm Harbour, called for further analysis when it became clear that these were substantive and had not been subject to a cost benefit analysis in the European Commission' impact assessment accompanying its initial proposal. Under our guidelines on better regulation, the EP has a clear obligation to carry out this exercise, and it will take some time for the results to be published. But during the intervening period, the Committee decided not to postpone voting on the bulk of the proposals. I stress that the Committee vote is not the Parliament's final position, which will only be voted on once the negotiations with the European Council in first reading are over.
I can assure you that the interests of motorcyclists and independent repairers have clearly been taken into account throughout the process and that the results of this supplementary impact assessment will be taken into consideration before the final vote in Plenary.
