1.04SUBMITTALS
A.Shop Drawings:
1.Indicate locations of each type of hardware
2.Provide schedules and catalog cuts.
3.Submit manufacturer's parts lists and templates.
B.Manufacturer's Installation Instructions: Indicate special procedures, perimeter conditions requiring special attention.
C.Maintenance Data: Include data on operating hardware, lubrication requirements, and inspection procedures related to preventative maintenance.
D.Warranty: Submit manufacturer's warranty and ensure that forms have been completed in Owner's name and registered with manufacturer.
1.05QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing the products specified in this section with minimum five(5) years of documented experience.
B.Hardware Supplier Qualifications: Company specializing in supplying commercial door hardware with five years of documented experience and approved by manufacturer.
C.Hardware Installer Qualifications: Staff specializing in installing commercial door hardware with three (3) years of documented experience.
1.06DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND PROTECTION
A.Package hardware to protect prior to installation.
1.07COORDINATION
A.Coordinate the work with other directly affected sections.
1.08WARRANTY
A.See Section 01 7700 - Closeout Procedures, for additional warranty requirements.
B.All components of each door shall be protectedagainst failure and/or performance deficiencies by a productmanufacturers installation and materials warranty. Said warranties shallbe specific to each system required and shall be non-prorated warrantieswhich guarantee against material and labor defects for a minimum periodof one (1)years.
C.Hardware including: hinges requiredfor the proper installation of all interior doors shall beprovided with a manufacturers minimum one (1) years guarantee againstdefects in labor and materials.
1.09MAINTENANCE PRODUCTS
A.Provide special wrenches and tools applicable to each different or special hardware component.
B.Provide maintenance tools and accessories supplied by hardware component manufacturer.

2.02HINGES
A.Hinges: Provide and install hinges on every replacement swinging door.
1.Provide and install two (2) spring-loaded heavy-duty hinges at middle and bottom replacement locations within existing frames where existing hinges were removed.
2.Provideand install one (2) heavy weight (0.180) ball bearing loading hinge at top replacement location within existing frames where existing hinge was removed.
3.Comply with BHMA A156.1 and A156.7; standard weight, unless otherwise indicated.
4.Spring-loaded hinges: Bommer Industries 4 ½”x 4 ½” size (unless field verification reveals a different mortise condition) concealed lube bearinghinge model LB4300C-450.
4.Ball-bearing hinge: Bommer Industries 4 ½”x 4 ½” size (unless field verification reveals a different mortise condition) model BB5000C-450.
2.03VIEW FINDER
A.View Finder: Provide and install on every replacement swinging door.
1.Provide and install one (1) 200 degree field of view view finder on every replacement door. Install at center of door height equal to that recorded from field verified replacement door.
2.Brass US4 finish - stain brass clear coated.
3.Adjustable from 1 3/8” to 2 ¼’ thickness.
2.04LOCKS AND LATCHES
A.Provided by MiamiUniversityand installed by this Contractor.
B.Latch/Lock Device: An electronic access Ingersoll Rand, Schlage AD-400 series locksets device provided and installed by others.
C.Ingersoll Rand SM Smart Card reader devices on designated interior(provided by Miami University and installed by this Contractor on interior residence hall doors to be removed and replaced) and exterior door (for reference only) locations as coordinated with Miami University.
D.Locks: Provided by MiamiUniversityand installed by this Contractor.
1.Hardware Sets indicate locking functions required for each door.
2.Trim: Provide lever handle on all locks.
3.Lock Cylinders: Key access on outside of all locks unless specifically stated to have no locking or no outside trim.
E.Lock Cylinders: Per manufacturer’s standard in coordination with MiamiUniversity and provided and installed by others. Noted here for reference only.
F.Lock Cores: Contractor shall be responsible for removing and reinstalling existing lock cores throughout all residence halls except for the following: Clawson Hall, Minnich Hall and Porter Hall. MiamiUniversity will be responsible for providing new lock cores following the installation of the new door and door hardware by this Contractor. Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating work in the above mentioned residence halls with MiamiUniversity Project Manager prior to start of work.
2.05GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR DOOR HARDWARE PRODUCTS
A.Provide products that comply with the following:
1.Applicable provisions of Federal, State, and local codes.
2.ANSI/ICC A117.1, American National Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities.
3.Applicable provisions of NFPA 101, Life Safety Code.
4.All Hardware on Fire-Rated Doors: Listed and classified by UL as suitable for the purpose specified and indicated.
B.Hinge Material: Steel
C.Hinge Finishes: Verify with University Project Manager before shipping and installation.
1. Standard: Satin bronze, clear coat on steel, 639 – US10
D.Hinge Tip Type:
1. Standard: top tip to be standard flat.
E.Hinge Screws:
1. Machine: 12 – 24x12. or as recommended by manufacturer.
2.Wood: 12 x 1 ¼ . or as recommended by manufacturer.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01EXAMINATION
A.Verify all doors and door hardware including hinges, view finder and latching devices. Inspect area conditions that will impact removal of existing items and the installation of new doors, hinge hardware, view finder, and reinstallation of latching hardware.
3.02REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
A.Remove existing door, door hinges, door view finder, and door latching hardware. Save existing lock core (if applicable) and latching device for reinstallation. Install hinge on new door and existing frame to accommodate verified mortise size and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and applicable codes on the new door.
B.Reinstall removed door hardware latching device and adjust to insure proper door latching.
C.MiamiUniversity will provide the new electronic access control device for installation by this Contractor on all doors being removed and replaced. Additional information for the installation of the new device can be found at the following website locations:

E.Adjust tension on spring-loaded hinges per manufacturer’s recommendation so that door closes fully in a manner that engages the door latch throw within the frame strike.
3.03ADJUSTING
A.Adjust work under provisions of Section 01 7000.
B.Adjust hardware for smooth operation.
3.04PROTECTION OF FINISHED WORK & CLOSE-OUT
A.Protect finished Work under provisions of Section 01 7000.
B.Do not permit adjacent work to damage hardware or finish.
C.Maintain a clean work environment at all times and remove waste materials as necessary to assure safe work conditions and final clean site conditions for continuous facility occupancy.
