Create little book post of the visit to the museum selling the visit through one of the topics

Arab Contributions to Art and Music

1.  Students should now review the contributions of the Arab world to art and music found on the Ground Floor/Lobby.

Ask students to think about the use of Arab world art in the United States. Highlight the use of calligraphy, an ancient artistic form of writing, and its prevalence in the United States. Illustrate the differences in style depending on the occasion.

Provide students with an opportunity to explore the lobby area and museum exterior. Highlight the tile designs used for the dome and around the foundation. What defining characteristics are found in Arab world art?

2.  Define an oral history or the personal story of a person’s life. It can be autobiographical, a person telling their own life history, or biographical, telling the story of another person. Oral histories are a great way to collect information about a person, a period in time, or a particular topic depending on the interest of the writer.

Have students investigate their family backgrounds, specifically addressing immigration patterns. Have students collect oral histories by conducting interviews with someone in their family to determine their roots (country of origin), location of entry to the United States, and patterns of movement within' the United States.

3.  students may wish to debate the issue of immigrant assimilation versus keeping cultural traditions., curbing personal biases and stereotypes that are offensive. Discuss how biases affect behavior and interfere with healthy and productive communities.

1-  Be specific and stick to one topic throughout the project ------20pts

(If it looks like you just collected information about no topic points will be deducted)

2; Story book would have to have photos mostly with litter of words------10pts

(Black and white photos and not well presented photos will loose points

3-Information has to be accurate, satisfactory ------10pts

(Points will be deducted for only pictures projects and information not correct)

Late projects are not accepted

Points will be given based on the rubric and teacher judgment
